What is the 100-Year Domain?
The 100-Year Domain service lets you secure your .com, .org, .net, and .blog domain names for a full century, ensuring you never lose them to expiration or administrative slip-ups. I thought the longest a domain name can be registered is 10 years?
ICANN limits the length of registration to 10 years at any given time. But with our 100-Year Domains, our registration team will hold your account in our Century Proxy account system that will extend your account year after year for the next 1200 months so you don’t have to worry.
Are there ways to pay other than a credit card?
Yes, we are happy to send an invoice with wire or corporate check instructions. Just schedule an intro call with us and we will find the best payment method that works for you.
What is included in the price?
Besides domain name registration for 100 years, you will have an enhanced dashboard to manage your names in the long term. Your account will be held by our Century Proxy to maintain full ICANN and other compliance into the far future. You can learn more on the features page.
What’s the refund policy?
We will allow refunds for up to 120 days after the initial purchase. We do not offer prorated refunds after this period. If the purchase is made in a currency other than US Dollars, any refunded amount will be calculated based on the US Dollar amount that was received by Automattic at the time of purchase. In some cases, hard costs may be deducted from the refunded amount. What extensions are available for my 100-Year Domain?
The 100-Year Domain service currently allows users to secure their non-premium .com, .org, .net and .blog domain names for 100 years. This is due to the unpredictable costs and legal structures associated with other domain name types. In the case of substantive regulatory or price structure changes in the future we may be able to expand to other domain name types or discontinue certain types. In the event a type is discontinued or regulations and systems out of Automattic’s control change, best efforts will be made to continue the service.
Can I upgrade my existing domain names to a 100-Year Domain?
Yes, at this time upgrades are handled through Domain Support.
Can I transfer my domain name to another registrar?
You can transfer your domain name to another registrar, but it will then be subject to the new registrars rules and regulations, and will no longer be considered part of the 100-Year Domain or plan program. If it is past the return window, there will be no refund available.
Can I transfer the ownership?
Yes, of course. We have existing transfer protocols for domain names that will apply. Further, we have protocols in place for taking ownership of the name in the case that we stop hearing from you for any reason that would apply. The 100-Year Domains are held in our Century Proxy system for the user, so we can ensure privacy, security and so our team can administer it over the next century.
Can I upgrade to a 100-Year plan in the future?
Of course! Just contact us to talk about migrating you to the 100-Year plan and we will deduct the cost of the 100-Year Domain from that.
