I cannot deactivate plugins

Whenever I try to deactivate a plugin the page loads for a while and the message of
‘There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.’
appears and I have no idea what should I do.
Can you please help me. Thank you in advance.
