Odeo is a neat podcasting and audio company run by some folks we like.
Obviously a few of you like them too because we’ve been getting more and more requests to support Odeo embedding here in WordPress.com, just like we do for Google and Youtube.
Never fear, that day is here. It works a lot like Youtube does.
Go to their site and go to an audio player page, I chose this Diggnation podcast. (Or you can listen to Weird Al if you’re into that.)
Copy and paste the URL in your address bar, it should look like this: http://odeo.com/audio/1968091/view.
And write it out like this [odeo=http://odeo.com/audio/1968091/view] .
Then you will get a nice audio player like this:
[odeo=http://odeo.com/audio/1968091/view]

I only wish that the Odeo player has a Volume slider (yeah yea, there’s one on my desktop as well as a manual one on my speakers… yet.. I’m spoiled, what can I say? 🙂 I like to have my options hehe)

Yeah, a volume slider would be nice, plus the choice to choose perhaps a more compact box. It sometimes looks just that little bit more uglier when the box has a larger width than the blog siderbar itself. Great integration with the podcasting thingy, though.

Its a steap ahead towards embedding flash player…
As a podcaster, I don’t think Odio will help me. But for new podcasters , who want to run podcast on WP this is the best option as they can do podcast on Odio and post here on WP..
Also, if I want to post audio file on WP, now I can use Odio for that…Its great 🙂

Just a suggestion, could it be possible to put these “codes” (YouTube and Odeo) somewhere in our Dashboard/Write Post options? Sometimes it’s not always easy to remember the codes. What happens is, it forced me to search my old post and do the cut and paste technique.
