Odd as it may sound, I miss all the equations from my days in grad school, so I decided that what WordPress.com needed most was a hot, niche feature that maybe 17 people would use regularly:
For those that don’t know, is a typesetting system particularly well suited for documents of a mathematical persuasion. It’s used almost exclusively by many technical, scientific and mathematical disciplines both in academia and industry. It also looks really good; I, among many, consider Donald E. Knuth a personal hero.
For those that do know, it’s now ridiculously easy to include inline formulas in your blog posts.
The syntax is reminiscent of ‘s inline math mode:
$latex your-latex-code-here$, and it allows you to produce most any equation. For example, the following code
$latex i\hbar\frac{\partial}{\partial t}\left|\Psi(t)\right>=H\left|\Psi(t)\right>$
yields
.
Pretty sweet, huh?
To further whet your appetite, these few standards show a bit more about what’s now possible on WordPress.com.
UPDATE: There’s a new LaTeX on WordPress.com FAQ entry that describes the “hidden” size and color options.
That is truly, awesomely awesome 🙂
Yes, no more cropping of screenshots…
Thank you very much!
Visualia
A simple, yet interesting formula: $e^{i\pi}=-1$ from imaginary and 3.1415… to -1!
Thanks for the $\LaTeX$ feature! It’s great! 🙂
oops… meant to be
that is very good to share our quices and test xD
thank for the aditional option to this great css
greets!
Fantastic!
Say, that last equation looks like it has somethng to do with the theory of relativity…
Wow! I haven’t seen anything that beautiful since college! Thank you.
That’s great. The writing I was just working on needed LaTeX. Now I have a reason and a way to learn it and put it to use!
mdawaffe… You might want to pump up the brightness on your photo…
Thanks for this .
Just what I need for the Finance articles I am about to post .
thx thx thx thx thx
Sweet… Gotta love the gamma function.
Nice….. i like it..
What the….!
WOW!
now thats something for a very niche blogger market! Awesome. ALthough I hope not to ever encounter diff’l math again! 😀
Thanks for the feature.
Well, you seem to have convinced a Fields Medal winner to shift to wordpress. Isn’t that enough ? 😉
nice nice… thanx a lot
Thanks for implementing this, I love Latex and I miss it so much.. EH!
Maths ftw!!!
wow! I will probly never use this, but boy does it look really cool!
ah, cool! Now, its possible to blog for scientist/math people!!
wowww i love it.
About time somebody stood up and proclaimed the goodness of LaTeX. I use it all of the time and prefer it over any other so-called word processor. I like the fact that when I create a document in LaTeX (like a contract or proposal), it’s not gonna be revised by some idiot who can’t spell or compose a sentence without Microsoft’s assistance. I also love that the font system is far superior to anything else that’s available other than in commercial systems. Plus, now I can put cool math stuff in my blog! Long live LaTeX! Nice job, too.
yeaaaaaaaaah!!! thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks from a math lover man…
mee too!!!!
Can’t count the number of times I thought, gee if only I could post more higher math. Don’t get it myself but am sure there are many things that would float my boat so to speak that leave other people cold so go for it!
All of a sudden, I love Calculus, Algebra, Trig, and Stats! Thank you, Latex geeks!
I was thinking about implementing such a feature but I don’t need to.
Being a math student I’m sure I’ll make a good use of it 🙂
I was just wishing I could use latex when I read this. Thanks
Great I will be using Latex, there is a few designs that I am working on this will go well with them.
Thank you

Thanks very much! It’ll make things easy for mathematicians!
