July was a pretty fun month around here, here’s some of what we did:

All of that was despite the whole team flying in from around the world and hanging out on a beach.

How about some stats?

  • 133 thousand blogs were created.
  • 143 thousand new users joined.
  • 1 million file uploads.
  • 2 million posts and 764 thousand new pages.
  • 2.8 million comments.
  • 19 million spam comments blocked.
  • 2.4 million logins. (That’s about a login a second.)
  • 281 million pageviews on WordPress.com, and another 95 million on self-hosted blogs. (375 million pageviews total.)

Here’s the numbers from last month.

As a few other stats: 77 thousand new avatars were uploaded, themes were switched 692 thousand times, there were 72 thousand posts with Flickr images in them, and the Flickr blog is now hosted at WordPress, there were about 25 forum searches and 48 FAQ searches for every new topic on the forum, about 15% of our pageviews are to custom domains, and although Chaotic Soul is the most popular theme on the site by number of blogs using it, blogs using Contempt (the second most popular theme) generated about 50% more pageviews.
