Regular updates are what blogging’s all about, but sometimes you want to keep hot topics or other static info at the top of your posts. This feature has existed as Sticky Topics in the forums, but hasn’t been available on blogs. Until now.
In the publishing options for each post you’ll now see “Stick this post to the front page.”

Check that box, click Publish and — ta da! — your post is highlighted at the top of your blog, where it will stay until you decide otherwise.

When your fresh stuff gets stale, just edit the post and uncheck the box. Click Save and it’s back to its place in chronological order.
Pretty fantasticky.
Well, this will be usefull 🙂
Oh greatness.
Oh, I like this. I’ve always wanted to keep some static text on the top of the page for notices and stuff, but didn’t want to make a new (home)page because it would detract from the blog entries.
Also, I love how we always get stuff before WP.org releases them, heh.
+1 for “fantasticky”
wow…. thanks
Great!!
Excelent idea! Good job!
I am brand new to WordPress and one of the first things I saw was a blog about “sticky post”. What a great idea!
This is an awesome idea!
nice !
Totally sick! (good)
Simple and fantastic!
I agree with another comment. It should look different than regular posts. Maybe a different gradient or font. Anyways, good work! WordPress is always on top of it!!!! And wow, I see the new theme…finally! btw, can we get a mosaic oriental inspired theme? hehe..too much to ask.
If only I had something important to say….
Yes, this idea sounds very nice, but amid all the hype, may I say a few little words? It has for a long time been possible to change a post that you consider important into a PAGE. Then you just can put that page to the front of your blog so incoming visitors see that page first of all.
So what is really new about this new feature?
@zencath: Thank you for bringing this up. The advantage of using Sticky Posts rather than setting a page as your front page is that readers can still see all your latest posts below the static entry (or entries) at the top. With the page method, your visitors only see one message when they visit your blog, and have to click over to another page to see your posts. You can still use the page method if that suits your needs, of course. Anyone who’d like to check that out can change those settings under Settings -> Reading in the dashboard.
Very good!!!
Excellent, very handy option.
Cheers
Nice!!!!!
This is why I love ya, wordpress!
cooooooool!!
FABULOUS – thank you!!!!!!!!
awesome im gunna try that!!!!!!
Excellent, thanks!
That’s really neat! Thank you!

Thanks,Wordpress!
Excellent idea. Love it!
It’s a great way to update about something important, quick. Can’t wait to try that out!
LOVE IT!
YOU ALL ARE DOING A FANTASTIC JOB WITH ALL OF THE ADDITIONS TO WORDPRESS!
EXCELLENT!
Hooooreeee….. my favorite’s post comes up at the top… Tq WP
this is what i am waiting for, a sticky post. thank you very much
nice feature but it is useless in monotone theme. its ok.
Very very nice feature. Thanks WordPress.
Now I would also love to have an ‘Archive’ button. Now of course, the ‘Archive’ function works only in a chronological order, and if I want to ‘archive’ a post early, then the only option is to edit the date. If you can provide an ‘archive’ button next to each post, it would be very helpful.
great! thanks for this possibility!
Gracias!
yay, thanks! this will be really useful!
“fanstasticky” har har har 🙂
Suh-weet. You guys really do rock. I have a website bussiness with wordpress. XD

That’s great I’ve just got a use for it! 🙂
OMG THIS IS AWESOME!! THANKS A MILLION YOU GUYS ARE SUPERB!
Sticky Topics in the forums, but hasn’t been available on blogs. Until now.
Nice to see that a great Drupal feature is implemeted in wp now, too.
would be nice if there was an option in the Manage page to quickly check / uncheck the Sticky option rather than having to open up the post in Edit mode, then save it…
Ah, a feature I’ve been wanting! Thanks!
Wow! Very cool feature indeed! Thanks!
Mmmmm, sticky… I still long for an option for disclaimer page.
As Stickman’s person, I appreciate that the name of this application works so well with my site!
