Regular updates are what blogging’s all about, but sometimes you want to keep hot topics or other static info at the top of your posts. This feature has existed as Sticky Topics in the forums, but hasn’t been available on blogs. Until now.
In the publishing options for each post you’ll now see “Stick this post to the front page.”

Check that box, click Publish and — ta da! — your post is highlighted at the top of your blog, where it will stay until you decide otherwise.

When your fresh stuff gets stale, just edit the post and uncheck the box. Click Save and it’s back to its place in chronological order.
Pretty fantasticky.
Neato, I might use this 😀
Great Idea
Felicidades!
Best Regards from México

Niceness!
One question: Is it/will it be possible to sticky posts not only to the front page, but just to the different categories/subcategories? (I.e. a short post saying “In this category you can expect to find ..yattiyatti..”)
This is an awesome feature, Thank you , Thank you, thank you…

Thanks!
I don’t need it now but it seems very useful!
NOICE!
Great! I’ve waited for this! Thanks WP!
WordPress just gives me more and more reasons to love them! SWEET!
Excellent, perfect, superb, thanks, and what more can I say? Like, zen; terse (to the point!); efficient.
This is a great idea, I’m sure it’ll come in very handy!
That’s kind of awesome. Good job.

lovely idea, but what the point? its just a post that stand out right?
More than anything, I’m just happy to see that you know how to use your apostrophes.
Great stuff
Thank you
I love this feature! I’m trying it out now…BUT…can it support a photo? For some reason my sticky note post photo will not show up, but the same picture shows up in other parts of the site. Any specific reason for this? Thanks!
I’ve been waiting for this for the longest time. I migrated from blogger and lover some of the versatility it had in terms of moving text/html boxes around the page. This really helps. Brilliant! I say.
Muito fácil, muito útil. Very simple, very usefull!
Sounds cool….will try to for sure….
I was wandering about it cause I need to stick a post about Critical Mass for bikers and you delivered that just right in time!

I like it!!!
Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaank you! THE best upgrade ever!!!!!!1
It’s great to see this feature, but I think it’s a bit unfair to say “now” and write about it in the present tense when really it will be quite some time before any of us can use this feature.
Keep up the good work, though.
@matt: This blog only covers WordPress.com features. Sticky posts are available now for blogs hosted on WordPress.com. To keep up with developments in WordPress.org (self-hosted) features, please follow http://wordpress.org/development/.
A new Idea..
I love this idea! However when I tried it, the Sticky Post retained the original posting date (so it looks like I haven’t posted since July 08). Is there any way to use Sticky Post so that NO PUBLISH DATE shows up with it? Please say it’s so! This is quite a cool feature otherwise. Many thanks! 🙂
