   This sounds good, but please do not implement (intrusive, mandatory, and gaudy) advertisements as a means to furnish these features. I have migrated to WordPress from LiveJournal which had fine communities and threaded comments, but was basically eaten alive by ugly ads (especially so for users from Russia and former Soviet Republics, for some reason). Based on this experience, I am weary about the “more is better” attitude.

   So far, I am very pleased with WordPress!

    In my opinion threaded comments suck. If the commenters have a brain it can work, but if your commenters don’t pay attention, or are newbs, they get confuse and post replies to the wrong comments and it becomes a mess.

    It won’t really matter to me though, I barely have any hits, much less comments.

    The Reputation feature of Intense Debate is troubling to a lot of people. It reminds us of Tim Berners Lee’s and O’Reilly’s misguided “Truth authority” proposals.

    Basically, a trust/reputation metric is not only susceptible to social gaming and hacker attacks but forces everyone to play by a set of implicit rules, i.e. play politics, to increase their reputation.

    And so you end up with LIES (like the ones our reputable politicians tell us) being pushed to the top and critical thinking getting neutered.

    It’s a distinctly bad feature.
