This would be our trailer. Check out some of the upcoming new features and design changes in this sneak preview video, including how to customize your dashboard, the new comment reply feature, the new navigation system, and the customizable posting screen. When you’re finished watching, take the poll below the video to tell us which feature you’re looking forward to the most.
A note on timing: WordPress 2.7 was originally scheduled to be released on WordPress.org for download on November 10th. WordPress.com would have had it installed as soon as possible thereafter. However, the launch date has been delayed due to some additional complexity and our determination to test all the new features with current users before releasing the updated software. 2.7 is expected to be released on WordPress.org by the end of November. We may be able to bring 2.7 to WordPress.com blogs slightly before the official launch date, but for now, no dates have been finalized. When we have a fixed date, we will announce it on this blog, so you all will have plenty of notice of the upcoming change.
Hey Jane, I really do appreciate that you took time to respond to commentors 🙂 Am really looking forward to the blog stats facelift.
Have been using 2.7 since Saturday, and I must say I’m actually loving every minute of it. The drag/drop modular interface makes working with wordpress a breeze, quick post is a nice idea, but I’m wondering why categories was not part of it..
And the new vertical navigation is sleek. Navigation is made easy and its cool to be able to hide it away. I too like the idea of how “edit” is now being grouped with posts instead of the previous “manage”, the current menu system is what I would call class/item oriented and it, though did take me quite a while initially to get used to it, is simply sweet. (Of course I took time because I’m actually running a chinese version of wordpress.)
However, I would like to point out an issue which I did said prior to beta releases (on RB’s blog) as I did test the nightly build (almost beta version), that self-hosted users who are performing the upgrade, should take note to disable ozh-admin dropdown menu plugin before installing 2.7. With ozh-admin dropdown enabled, the 2.7 navigation menu would not appear and that was quite an headache as I did not know that ozh dropdown was the issue. I had even thought that my wordpress2.7 almost-beta version was not installed properly. As ozh dropdown is quite a popular plugin, I would suggest that a note is given to all users.
Keep up with the good work WordPress! I simply adore you guys for the time, effort, energies you guys put into making blogging such an enjoyment for all of us. You guys rock and without WP, I wouldn’t even be blogging.
Thank you!
super,wordpress does it again.
Jane, version 2.7 will be used to “wordpress.com” or “wordpress.org”?
I hope that this works alright with a yahoo account. Trying to use wordpress with yahoo is like pounding your head against a wall.
Congrats for your job mates, it seems really well done.
As I get to know WordPress my appreciation for all the hard work continues to grow. I also am appreciating that WordPress is make solid attempts to include its consumers in the process of updates. I may not understand all of the updates or why they are important but I do appreciate the thought that occurs behind these changes. Hopefully I will be able to realize how to take full advantage of them. Thank you, Jane and all at WordPress.
Well, I was actually blind and don’t know about Blog and anykind of its. Sure, I know what is blog, but I don’t know what it is for, how to manage it. For the very first time I try wordpress coz I see it’s quite simle and easy thing. I just start my page, and still trying to have a good page, manage it, so it looks nice to be seen. Still, I have to learn how to use widgets and everythings inside the page.
You have done a tremendous job. I cannot wait until it is launched.
Thanks loads!
Oh my…. this is awesome!
cant wait any longer lol…
The beta is lovely… and the customizable write screen is a major coup.
bravo.
Awesome! I am definetly looking forward to wordpress 2.7 by the end of November. It stinks though that it happened to have to be moved. I have been waiting for it for the longest time. It’s nice how you can customize your dashboard to what you want and reply to comments from your dashboard. Yes. I voted that replying to commnets on your administration was the best feature coming out.
I like the part where we can move things around as we please. It definitely sounds more interactive. I’m lookin’ forward to the new version!
I think it looks fantastic, and I’m really looking forward to using the new dashboard – with the “quick posting”-option and comment moderation it’ll really be the blog home base! Wicked!
This looks nice and streamlined, not to mention intuitive. Can’t wait WordPress! :’D
WOW – very impressive – looking forward to all the changes!
I’ve actually had a change to install the beta of 2.7 on a server I host, and it looks AWESOME!!!! I can’t wait for the final release because it looks so much more sleek, more user friendly, and actually is more powerful at the same time (in my opinion anyway). The WordPress Team rocks, and is so cool to see where Automatic has taken this software. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Oh wow, looks really good. Love it that you can drag and drop only what you want to see. Awesome!
it is agood ideas still it will be cool
the best thing about wordpress team is that they are always working hard ro make improvements. everynow and then they surprise us with something new which keeps us interested more. good luck.
Thanks Guys you are making this place even better for the novice to use 🙂
The interface lift is awesome, way ahead of the game compared to other blog systems. Great job everyone.
There is no video visible in this post (FF 3.0.3)!?
wordpress gets way too much complaints. These people brought us wordpress. Their not here to do our bidding. They don’t have to do this. So kudos to WordPress.
2.7 is everything the Dashboard GUI should have been, but couldn’t (until now).
I look forward to its release, not only on .org, but on .com as well.
Cheers, WP devs.
should be amazing …
Well done! This will make our blogging much easier! WORDPRESS ROCK!
Cool stuff. It just seems to get better and better. GREAT JOB!!!!
Impresionante!

Jane…I put WP-2.7B up on my web server. Worked great. Looking forward to your stable release. I really like the layout and features. Thanks for a great job to all the development staff at WordPress. You guys rock
DH
nice to see wp taking usability seriously, to begin with I thought not more changes but what you’ve shown here makes more sense 🙂
Just keeps getting better…..Thanks
Looks fantastic !
Looks Great!
WordPress 2.7 is amazing. I am using it on about 5 different blogs that I own and I love everything about it. The new dashboard, the new features, the drag and drop and everything. The best thing that I like about the new WordPress 2.7 is to add new plugins directly from the dashboard.
I would love have this same feature available for new themes as well.
Wonderful work by the WordPress team.
All the best and waiting anxiously for the complete version of WordPress 2.7
As I may have said in a far comment, the functionality is not my desire. I don’t use it as an named “advanced user” would, I just write sometimes. The point for me is being lovely beautiful so I like even more to post!
I am loving it, the easiest to use on the net!
Perhaps worth a try! Thanks! mjf
Being new to this platform, I find it both visually pleasing and navigationally friendly.
These features may individually lack “wow” factor, but I think together they are fantastic! I am SO excited after seeing that preview, now that I have a better understanding of how this all should work. (Assuming, of course, that it does work as it should.) My only thought is that there should be the ability to turn off post revisions, and/or clean them out occasionally, since this can bog down the database. Thanks!!
I really like the QuickPost feature. But, the whole thing is really, really cool. Can’t wait for nov. 30th!
I like this!
Just a word of thanks for WordPress!
simpler, sleeker, better.
Where is the “tree” to add images to post? The add media is just complicated… Now to make simple i must go to html and click on the img button. Hoppe the tree come back…
if wordpress was a movie, the only i have to say is: oh SNAPS!!!!!!
SO COOL I WISH IT CAN LUNCH IT OUT NOW THE WORDPRESS 2.7.
this will really helpful for all beginners. and also for us who uses wordpress for blogging. 🙂 great job. can’t wait to use it. 😛
me gusta, luego debo aprender a subirlo a mi página…
I can’t wait — lots of plugins will be upset by how many great features you’re adding to 2.7. Thanks for your work!
Categories are a pain to use if you have lots of them, we need some kind of fast way to access them… and get rid of the “most used” default selection, it only causes loss of time.
Also a way of adding categories to a bunch of posts would be nice.
Apart from that, WP simply rocks our world
Ayad
It looks awesome. All the new features look nice, and helpful in a way.

Personally, I really like being able to highly customize the dashboard.
