You’ve probably gotten tired of hearing about it from us, but the day has finally come and the new dashboard is finally here. It’s now immediately available to everyone on WordPress.com.
Change is always tricky, but pretty much everyone who has already switched to the new design and layout (that we affectionately call Crazyhorse) prefers it after a day or two of using it.
Why is that? Well aesthetics are a matter of taste, and you might like or dislike the new look, but speed is not.
A big focus of this redesign was making everything faster. It loads faster. It’s faster for you to navigate. And nearly every possible task in WordPress now takes fewer clicks than it used to.
This means we can get out of your way and you can focus on what matters: your writing, your comments, your readers, your blog.
So take a few minutes to explore around, there are a ton of new features for you. Try rearranging your dashboard, or your write page. Click the arrows in the menu to expand modules and navigate faster. Go to your profile and turn on keyboard shortcuts for comment moderation. Poke and prod! 🙂
For those following along at home, this new dashboard is going to be available as the 2.7 release on WordPress.org sometime next week. But because we update things so frequently here on WordPress.com, version numbers don’t apply as much.
Support is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week if you have any problems, and as always completely free. (Give us a little extra time to reply though, we’ll probably get a lot of folks contacting us.)
Love, Matt and the tireless WP team
Good work. I like it. Thank you!
GREAT….!
I like changes
Great new design!
so much better, thanks!
I’m totally new at this, but those who have looked at my site say it looks good. I’m saying this to say if I want my pages listed on the side rather than across the top can that be done?
I also wanted to say I’ve tried many other blog sites and was so lost and and confused on it that I ended up canceling my blog. I’ve only had my blog here for 2 days and LOVE IT!! Thank you for a blog site that is easy to follow and that I can actually do things I want to do. (well once I figure it out lol)
@billssweethart, whether the pages appear at the top of the blog or not depends on the theme you are using. You can preview the different themes from your Appearance -> Themes page.
It’s like you could see what I wanted inside me head and then created it for me!! Tank you so much!
This “new dashboard” is HORRIBLE! You keep raving about “flexibility” – well, make it flexible enough so I can use the previous incarnation (which was worse than the prior incarnation, but I had gotten used to it). I suppose I will eventually get used to this one, too, but I hate, hate, hate having to keep relearning new interfaces. But, then, I’m still pining away for WordStar…
well orginised and so completed. great change 🙂
One suggestion, on the comments manager when you clicked the post it used to just bring it up, now it bring up the post in the editor. That’s annoying. I just want to see the post and the comments, not edit the post. I do like seeing all the newest comments and instantly approving or deleting them.
Can’t complain too much about a freebee, I guess. Still, it’s not better, just different, and worse in some cases.
I like to stack up a week’s worth of daily posts in a draft/queue, jump among them with edits and reschedule them for rhythm. That was easy with the old version of WP. The new version makes it more tedious.
Just voted…love it!
Thank you very much 🙂
