You’ve probably gotten tired of hearing about it from us, but the day has finally come and the new dashboard is finally here. It’s now immediately available to everyone on WordPress.com.
Change is always tricky, but pretty much everyone who has already switched to the new design and layout (that we affectionately call Crazyhorse) prefers it after a day or two of using it.
Why is that? Well aesthetics are a matter of taste, and you might like or dislike the new look, but speed is not.
A big focus of this redesign was making everything faster. It loads faster. It’s faster for you to navigate. And nearly every possible task in WordPress now takes fewer clicks than it used to.
This means we can get out of your way and you can focus on what matters: your writing, your comments, your readers, your blog.
So take a few minutes to explore around, there are a ton of new features for you. Try rearranging your dashboard, or your write page. Click the arrows in the menu to expand modules and navigate faster. Go to your profile and turn on keyboard shortcuts for comment moderation. Poke and prod! 🙂
For those following along at home, this new dashboard is going to be available as the 2.7 release on WordPress.org sometime next week. But because we update things so frequently here on WordPress.com, version numbers don’t apply as much.
Support is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week if you have any problems, and as always completely free. (Give us a little extra time to reply though, we’ll probably get a lot of folks contacting us.)
Love, Matt and the tireless WP team
Really Isn’t That Hard When You Get Used To It. The New Theme Is Awesome!
I just miss the button, in the top left, that took me to my blog’s front page.
The button is still there, have a look.
I LOVE it. I think it looks great. I have already customized it and look forward to using it going forward. The quickpress is a great feature too. Thanks and keep up the great work : )
nice…, love you wordpress..
It awesome! Im still getting used to it.
AWESOME IS GOOD !!
New Dashboard is logically arranged. Easy to understand. Good job!
I can no longer load videos. It’s just a blank square now after you click to load it.
You should contact support.
Looks good and I was able to customize a few things already. I like it but change is difficult for a lot of people! I am getting used to the changes, but since I use it daily I am learning fast. Those are the little icons I voted for too!
Ayay, I like it. Especially for the dropdown menus.
I don’t need to switch into theme panel to figure up my widget directly. Creative stuff!
Thank you wordpress!
It is very organized, and much easy to use than the previous one. Thanks!
Not sure if this is the proper place to notify you of bugs, but I’ll try anyway. My one concern with the new site is that I lose some functionality when writing posts. It doesn’t allow me to increase the font size by using CNTRL key and the scroll button on my mouse. It lets me make the font bigger, but it makes the text box bigger too. That means 1/3 of it ends up off of my screen, so I can’t see what I’m typing. This didn’t occur on the old version of WP, nor does it happen in any of my various email clients, so I’m sure it will be a real easy thing for your tech guys to fix.
It’s not a huge deal for me in the short-term, just annoying. For older bloggers with poor vision I suspect it will create a serious hassle, as they’ll either have to squint and hurt their eyes or constantly cut and past from Word. Other than that it looks great. Thanks in advance for your concern.
Can you contact support with this (and any other bugs), please? That’s the best way to ensure problems get to the attention of developers who can fix them. Thanks.
well designed.
i am fond of it so much
thanks
i love itttttttttttttttttttttttt
Seems perfectly good to me
Thank you for this design. The feature I like the best on it is the collapsible screens. Things are easy to find now.
Hard to get back to the view of the blog. Nothing on top to make it easy to do so. Also I hate the fact the the words edit, delete etc are not visible when you pull up a post in the dashboard itself. Keep it OBVIOUS and easy but overall it is a better design I think…
Try clicking on the title of your blog.
It works fine for me. I just started it 2 days ago and it’s updated today.:) Both of them are easy to get start and the new one looks more sophosticated.
Please stop the changes. I was less than impressed with the last changes, and am even less pleased with these changes. If you do want to change in the future, please consider those of us who do not care to learn a new format. We came to WP for its simplicity, and you make it more complex. Leave the software alone, unless you intend to allow us to also have the option of switching back.
To me the new dashboard feels cluttered.
Happily, you can remove anything you don’t find useful! Just click on the Screen Options tab in the upper right and use the checkboxes to remove the things you don’t want. Alternately, click on the header bar of a specific module to collapse it rather than removing it altogether.
WP Team will go to Heaven ! 🙂
finally! am lovin’ it ^_^
Where did the “visit site” link go?
It’s still there.
I like the way it looks and everything is seemingly around, within the reach. I just started using it and am happy about the way it is organized for us. Thanks! Keep up the good work.
love it.. its brillian ^_^
Its great!!! but why GREY? I like the quick publish…. Thanks
Try switching to blue in your profile.
saw the new dashboard today and was pleasantly surprised. totally loving it! ^^ awesome job!!
Nevermind, just found it.
It’s great. Three thumbs up! 😉 Thanks, guys!
cool design. thanks
i love it tooo! it’s so easy to use!
i just love it 🙂
A wonderful change from the previous dashboard!
Great job!!!
Thanks for all the effort 🙂
I found it jarring at first, but within an hour or two I was used to it and liked it better than the previous design. I think the presentation of many different links on the main page is conventient, since I don’t have to hunt for a tool like before.
So much better than the old dash. Bravo!
yea i love it. so much easier to use. gracias
Why is my old gravatar (avatar) showing up? I’ve had the “new” one for months.
We synced the systems so you may need to re-upload it.
I love it! Things are all viewable in just 1 page.
Prefer the sidebar navigation too, compared to the previous one. 😀
Just a matter of time to get used to it.
I like it.
New look. New change.
🙂
At first I though that I’d hate the new design but after using it a few times I feel that it’s a much better product. After writing my first new post with 2.7 I really love the new system and found it to be a more enjoyable blogging experience, thanks for a great product WordPress.
Overall it’s a good interface… But there are two little nit-picky design points I would like to bring up:
*you used to be able to click the W to go back to wordpress.com homepage, now you can’t…
*i miss the tabs for different blogs, instead of dropping down the pulldown menu on top….
Like I said, quite minor
I love it and thank you! Makes my blogging tons easier.
I love it!
I am seriously loving the new design, especially the QuickPress and the Quick Edit and Excerpt View when I edit posts. I do have two items on my wish list:
(1) In the QuickPress, is it possible to add a text box so that one can enter Categories?
(2) In the Quick Edit, any chance one can edit the excerpt as well?
The new dashboard really rocks!
Leave it to computer geeks to change something that works to something else that works differently. As I edit a post and want to proof it via a simple preview, now I get the message that I’m not worthy. That’s very annoying.
Congratulations, A change is always better, if it serves better. it looks interesting Deshboard, though, I had some problem at first, now solved by our Balavatar. Thanks to the name, which has many meanings.
Literally, it is okay, But, religiosity has different notions, like-Bala ji means Hanuman-the devotee of Ram,also worshiped as a God, or Bala ji means-Vishnu- the supreme God. So it is an Avatar of Vishnu.
Let us it serves the World. Thanks.
I’ve got it. SO COOL !!! ^_^
thank you!
cool… 😀
Just wanted to add my .02 and say I love it…
Thank you all sooo much for the work you do to make wordpress such a pleasure to blog at!
I was very surprised this morning when I encountered it – but I must say that I like it:
it has a really nice + comprehensive “cockpit”-feel.
Once again, thanks al ot to you guys for making blogging with WordPress such a fine experience 🙂
A very good job… Bravo… I just love it… I love writing now more than ever… Thank you! 😀
Thank you. It is intuitive and I could get used to it in no time and it looks better than the old one. I appreciate having larger editing area for new posts, for example…
looooooooooove it. As soon as I saw it i was stoked. Thanks guys!
Another nice surprise from WordPress! It’s great, took some adjusting to it, but it’s a whole lot better than before. Thanks again, people!
I love it!
Although I am subscribed to the slogan “never change a working system” I wish to tell you that the new interface is better in my opinion. It looks better, it makes more sense, it requests less clicks. Takes just a few minutes to get used to it. Thanks.
the old version was better
You’ve made a great job. The new design is very nice.
Not bad. Good to great!
I love it!! Everything I need at a glance!!! 😀
Wonderful! Thank you so much!!
Beautiful work!!! Thanks…. 🙂
The new layout looks much tidier and more modern than the previous one. Thanks!
I think that the new wordpress platform rocks. I have been testing since alpha (pre beta), beta, and now rc1. I’m on self-hosted wordpress.
The only gripe has to be the inability to use quickpress as much as I like to, as the lack of categories is quite a pain, I have to actually hit “save” at quickpress then go to edit, select categories before I can publish. If given a choice, I really not have the tags section for quickpress.
Its cool… i like it so much except the fact that it is taking few more seconds to load…
Hope u will fix this in Patches to come….
Thanks
I love it!!!
For me it’s much easier to use, aesthetically it’s good too. Hope there would be more colors to choose from the Admin Color Scheme though, like maybe green…(^_^)
hahaha!!!
Great work WordPress!!!
Really love everything about it, but most especially the ability to entirely reconfigure the work screens to one’s preferences. Definitely was worth the wait. Thank you WP team!
Now on to full Gravatar and threaded comment integration! 🙂
Well, well, well…………………wordpress, didn’t you totally take things up a notch.
It looks fabulous.
It’s so classy.
Love it , good work guys…..
Have a happy holiday and peaceful new year.
Thanks a bunch for all your hard work this year.. it just keeps getting better and better!
xx
I like it…especially the screen options, the mobility of the various elements, and how the left-hand side bar can be reduced to icons. It can all be customized down to the bare bone…you made it clean and we can make it even cleaner.
Love it! And love that I love something new – I usually hate new things, and then realise that its because I’m old and set in my ways, but this I really like, x x fogey
Just logged in and, a dashboard you can change? I like.. Yes I like.
mmmm,
i love it
aku suka ini
tiang demen dashboard ne
mmm, now you know how to say it in en, id, and sasaknese
perfect design, thnks Matt.
Matt, I disliked it for five minutes, especially aesthetics-wise (reminded me of MT c. 2003) BUT after trying out a few workflow steps: it’s amazing. This should be a case study in interface utility improvement.
I looooove the new design and faster speed! Keep up the great work. I’m so glad I chose WP over blogspot.
The new layout is 100 times better, my 9 year old grandaughter could use it, infact my 6 year old Grandson could manuver through it.
Love the snow effect, it actually is doing the same thing outside as I type this… light snow flurries…Toronto, Canada 8:47am
I love the new dashboard! Thanks, folks! 🙂
I like it… Clean, very clean… and functional 🙂
the box for the new post in my blog is broken. i mean i can write on it, but the width is kinda off. it’s doubled the correct width, so i cannot see my writing because it’s covered with the tag box, and etc. i have to write on word first then copy it to the box. any solution?
You should contact support about that.
Good stuff! Still a few quirks though…
today, i’m surprise!!!… but i love it
Great job with the new dashboard design. People just loved it, including me 🙂
My first impression was quite negative, but then I realized I could modify the screen display and take out the things that aren’t of importance to me so now I am feeling better about it.
New dashboard design is quite good and modern, but navigation is bad.
It is brilliant, thanks for pursuing sound usability design principles. Magnificent.
publish on
front page?
am i visually challenged?
where has it been moved to pray tell
the front page box to be ticked – or not
I have an older system so this is S-L-O-W.
I’m having to write on my microsoft word program and then I switch it over to WP.
That’s okay for my daily writing journal, which doesn’t go over a couple of hundred words but for my short story blog?
Yikes
Did anyone else notice snow falling on this page or is it just me….Love the new dashboard by the way, many thanks
Just a superb design. WordPress 2.7 rocks to the core. I’ll have fun blogging these days with that old design gone. 2 words ‘WORDPRESS ROCKS!’
lovely.
I like the new dashboard.
It’s very user friendly and more compact.
Much better than other website revamps, e.g. “the new Facebook.”
This is great. It makes it feel more professional as well.
