Have you become addicted to telling the world what you’re up to in 140 characters or less? If so, we’ve launched a feature that you’ll love: a Twitter widget for your sidebar.
Now you can quickly and easily keep your readers connected to your updates on Twitter, and make your blog the home of even more of your content. We use it on the WordPress news blog to let you know what’s going on with our @wordpressdotcom account.

All the links that you post to Twitter remain clickable in the widget, and your @ replies link to user profiles, like when you say, “Hey @photomatt!”. Hashtags link to Twitter Search for that term, like #wordpress. Timestamps link to the individual update, and the heading of the widget links back to your profile.
To add the Twitter widget to your WordPress.com blog, just head to Appearance > Widgets in your dashboard. The brand new Twitter widget option is there waiting patiently for you.
Click “Add” to add it to your sidebar, and then click “Edit” to set your Twitter username and choose how many updates you’d like to display. No passwords needed.
Have more than one account on Twitter? No problem. You can add as many as you like! Just add another widget as you did before.
Update: We’ve released the Wickett Twitter Widget plugin for WordPress.org users.
great work…..
Excellent! I hope too…
Would it be possible to add a feature to disable it showing any @ updates, and just show direct Twitters? That would be great if so.
That isn’t a current feature, but we’ll keep that request in mind! Thanks.
Oh YAY! I was waiting for this! 😀 😀
Can we add a Twit This to blog posts so people can twit about our posts?
awesome!!!!
awesomeness! (^_^)
I love it! Thanks!
Good Job with the feature! Now I think you should make shaded and bold letters in the wordpress posting place. Maybe a couple more features and wordpress is officially done! And maybe a new feature called accounts for your wordpress blog, and you could need an account to comment.
I really want accounts on my blog: http://todayshow.wordpress.com/ I already made the login buttons on the side! I was trying to make a login textbox, but the HTML code wouldn’t work!
You can force visitors to need a WordPress.com by checking the option for “Users must be registered and logged in to comment” at Settings->Discussion in your Dashboard.
I join еру request to include the option of being able to publish only my own tweets and not my @replies?
Twits are in conformity with blog’s topic, @replies are not.
Fantastic work friends. 🙂
Great!!
We love you WordPress 🙂
very nice………..
Doing cartwheels. (Apologies to the earth due to inconsiderate impact.)
grazie mille! tweet tweet!
Thanks – tried just a couple of weeks ago to do this, but couldn’t. This solves the problem nicely!
Why can I not figure out Twitter?? I’ll give it a shot though.
Ohhhh cool, thanks! Finally getting there!
Next can we be allowed to play out with everyone else and actually use a proper Twitter widget that’s all pretty and nice?
Wow, exactly what am looking for. Will try this out. Many thanks!

thanks for this feature! but, do you mind putting dailybooth too? please? haha.
i checked it out , coooooooooool WP
Is how the twitter feed is displayed on each blog dependent upon the blog’s ‘theme’? e.g. some look good because there are spaces between the tweets (easier to read) whereas on my theme they are displayed pretty much text up against text.
It does depend on the theme a little.
I already did. However, I notice that the update lags…or is it just my internet connection. Anyway, this is a cool widget indeed.
cool thank you so much
It will be quite useful. I will use it. Thank you so much
But why why why twitter?
Someone please tell me what’s new.
Best,
P.
Nice
It doesn’t work if your Twitter account is set to private right?
Right.
Wow! Awesome WordPress!
that’s so cool, thanks! how can I integrate my tweets so they appear in between blog posts?
I’m afraid there isn’t a way to do that.
I’ve been using RSS.
hmm
i’m glad I have an alternative.
Now i want to put a YouTube video into the sidebar.
cool! how do you get it?

See https://wordpress.com/support/widgets/twitter-widget/
Coollll.. thanks for your info
that’s great…but do you think you will ever let us add the linkWithin feature to out wordpress blogs as this will bring much more traffic to the blogs.
We have a feature similar to that, it’s called possibly related posts.
YAY!!!! Thanks!!!! Very nice!!!
Thanks for the update 🙂
Never understood its purpose but oh well.
yes yes, this is a handy feature.. cheers
Cool.
So, when will Plurk available also for wordpress? 😀
i hope that plurk will be added soon.
Nice one!
Soon added to my sidebar.
Thx.
Thanks!
How about for Plurk?
Another reason why WordPress is SO fresh and tasty. x
This blue bird is flying higher 🙂
Thanks
love it 🙂 thanks
Cool! 🙂 Thank you.
All the best,
Cheerful Madness!!
I’ve been using this since long before it was announced, but recently it shows duplicates all the time (A, A, B, B, C, C) any idea what I can do about it?
Thanks
Those duplicates show up when you use the RSS widget and your Twitter RSS feed. You should uncheck the RSS widget option that says “display item content” or use the new Twitter widget instead.
Terrific! Now all of my ethical tweeting shoppers can get quick access to sustainable, organic and local products in their neighborhoods!
Awesome. Thanks.
