Have you become addicted to telling the world what you’re up to in 140 characters or less? If so, we’ve launched a feature that you’ll love: a Twitter widget for your sidebar.
Now you can quickly and easily keep your readers connected to your updates on Twitter, and make your blog the home of even more of your content. We use it on the WordPress news blog to let you know what’s going on with our @wordpressdotcom account.

All the links that you post to Twitter remain clickable in the widget, and your @ replies link to user profiles, like when you say, “Hey @photomatt!”. Hashtags link to Twitter Search for that term, like #wordpress. Timestamps link to the individual update, and the heading of the widget links back to your profile.
To add the Twitter widget to your WordPress.com blog, just head to Appearance > Widgets in your dashboard. The brand new Twitter widget option is there waiting patiently for you.
Click “Add” to add it to your sidebar, and then click “Edit” to set your Twitter username and choose how many updates you’d like to display. No passwords needed.
Have more than one account on Twitter? No problem. You can add as many as you like! Just add another widget as you did before.
Update: We’ve released the Wickett Twitter Widget plugin for WordPress.org users.

Too bad it only works about 20% of the time. More often than not I get, “No response from Twitter.”
We’re working on a fix for this issue. Thanks for your patience.
Really nice to here that! 🙂
Thanks! ♥
Thanks, it’s cool …
Still not convinced by Twitter but love the widget and it’ll give me the chance to try Twitter on the blog and see what the twitting fuss is all about…
yeah thanks
thanks
awsome 😀
I am into the blog world
I just had to join the microblogging space… Now will there be a similar widget for identi.ca ?
Mine seems to shut on and off at random, where it will be up and then say “No response from twitter.” There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason for this; although, whenever I go back into Widgets & hit save again it starts working for a little while.
Very nice
cool lol idk who or wot twitter is
Check out this Wikipedia entry to learn about Twitter.
I’m not new to Twitter and I’ve tweeted since adding the widget–yet at least a couple of hours later, even when I refresh the page, all the widget says is “No response from Twitter.” Any suggestions? I really like the idea.
We’re working on a fix for this issue! Thanks for your patience in the meantime.
What a fantastic idea!! So much to know. I’ll give it a try. Thanks
Thanks WordPress
Wasn’t even considering getting a twitter account… I was perhaps trying to avoid it at all costs. Now, I’m not so sure. Hmmm!

Great idea. Wish it worked more often. Almost 75% of the time readers see “no response from twitter.”
We’re working to fix this. Thanks for your patience!
