Say goodbye to messing around with HTML in a Text widget just to get an “About Me” in your sidebar. With the new Gravatar widget it only takes a few seconds to achieve this and stamp your blog as your own!
If you’re not familiar with a Gravatar it’s a graphical representation used to identify yourself, an avatar, in WordPress blogs and other sites. It’s already built in to your WordPress.com account and can be found on your profile page.
This Gravatar widget allows you to quickly and simply add a Gravatar onto your blog. You can select the Gravatar image, size, and even add a description about yourself or your blog. If you have multiple authors you can add several widgets – there’s no limit.
Setup is easy – go to Appearance->Widgets in your dashboard, drag the Gravatar widget from Available Widgets into the desired sidebar, and choose your settings.

You can choose the Gravatar of an existing blog author from the dropdown menu, or enter a custom email address if necessary.
You can choose one of four sizes for the Gravatar image itself, all of which fit easily into the sidebars of WordPress.com widget-enabled themes.
You can align the image to the left, right, or center, deciding how the text flows around the Gravatar.
Choose the URL you want the image to link to, if you want it to link to an “About Me” page or some other place, or leave this field blank if you don’t want the image to link anywhere.
Finally, enter the text you want to display below the image. Include HTML too, if you want. Click Save and you’re finished!
And if you feel like it’s time for a new Gravatar remember that you can always modify your Gravatar from your profile page by uploading a new image or even using your webcam.
So what are you waiting for?
Step-by-step instructions for the Gravatar widget can be found on the Gravatar widget support page.
Note that this widget is available for WordPress.org blogs as a plugin: Gravatar Widget
It’s cool the idea .
woldpress you rock i’m 100% in support of it, now i can use my page without a problem
Has great features. Thanks to its developers. 🙂
new kid on the block
Thank you! This move to WP from yahoo 360 has turned into a very, very good thing!! I got my gravatar, do you have yours? ………… :}
I love this Widget.
I finally can have a photo of myself and a little about myself beside my blog.
Rather than inside my blog.
I am wanting the most recent photo of myself in the widget
Currently it is showing an old photo
I went in and changed the photo
Does it take a little time for the old photo to be removed and the newer photo to show up ?
Also up to the past few days
I use to have a Preview Photo of all of my Blogroll links
Suddenly the Preview Photos stopped showing up.
I do not remember turning them off.
What do I need to do to bring back the Preview Photos of my Links ?
I really liked them.
Thanks for all you do to make WordPress the BEST way of blogging.
There is no time delay when changing Gravatars, although your browser may cache the old image. You should contact support with specific question about your blogroll.
Nice info
Hmmm…. good! Thanks..
wow.. this is a good… good for my blog… thanks! God bless!
Good work. Will try this later on!
what awesome!! two thumbs ^^v ..
A really great one…
Thanks for adding another useful feature. I prefer using an About page though. My sidebars are full enough 🙂
good thinking. had a hard time myself. 😀
Hello. I really like the new addition, but I can’t seem to get my gravatar’s picture to appear in the actual widget. The image appears when I leave comments, so I assumed it would automatically appear in my gravatar widget.
What am I missing? I’m sure it’s something simple…
Real nice. Thanks!
I am a novice in blogging world and new to wordpress. This widget is really cool. Hope to get such useful widgestin future
nice
Excellent, I already made a html version but great to know it’s there, you must have lots of fun in the WP team as even between blogging I always come back to knew features.
I think you should add more templtes or at least changeble fonts within the existing ones, ust a suggestion!
Thanks!
it won’t upload my pictures. are they too big? 68kb
No, 68kb is not too big. Please contact support if you are still having difficulties.

Great,thanx
great …. dear great….
Thanksssss dear
Just love it!
So…now we have four ways of looking backward into our archives but we still have ZERO ways of looking forward. For over a year now wp.com users (myself included) have been begging for some sort of integrated ‘Events Calendar’ so that we can post, well, upcoming events and shows etc that our readers might want to attend… so far these requests have fallen on deaf ears…. but the wp.ORG community seems to have several events calendars to choose from….
Please tell me – who else do we have to beg??
Thanks for your suggestion. The more requests we hear for a specific feature, the more likely we are to implement it in the future. Please submit feature request to Support so we’re sure to have it on file 🙂
ah this is great ! ty!
awesome….
thanks!

Am I to dumb to find it? I would like to try the widget but I can’t find it in the WP Plugins directory…. I’m looking for “Gravatar Widget”, “Gravatar” but can’t localise it in the list. What am I misssing?
The Gravatar Widget has not yet been released as a plugin for WordPress.org. Please stay tuned to any further announcements regarding this.
I’m kinda lost here. How do you upload a gravatar? Is that the avatar on our blog pages?
You can upload a Gravatar by clicking the “Change your Gravatar” link found in your user profile at http://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/profile.php . Check out https://wordpress.com/support/avatars/gravatars/ for more information, and please feel free to contact support if you’re confused in any way.
