I’ve seen my fair share of snow growing up in northern Michigan. The sun was shining today, but there is a good chance we’ll have snow on the ground by the end of the week. My favorite things about snow have always been making snowmen, building snow forts, and having snowball fights.
Many of you don’t get a chance to experience the fluffy white stuff, so we’re bringing snow to WordPress.com like we’ve done the last two years. What do you like about snow?
To make it snow on your blog:
- Go to your dashboard.
- Navigate to Appearance -> Extras.
- Check the box next to “Show falling snow on this blog.”
If you used snow last year it is automatically turned back on. If you want to turn it off, follow the steps above but uncheck the box.
Older computers may run slow or stop responding due to snow. Use the following links if you run into a problem (the options below only affect your user account):
Really loving this option.
Thanks !
coool i will check it\
thanx 😀
*sigh* If I knew about WordPress two years ago… oh well. At least it can snow on my blog!
I already have it and it is quite amazing! Thanks a lot, I love it! Nice Holidays spirit! The snow is great.
Thanks, Gracias, Merci, Multumesc 🙂
… Though, I would’ve prefered it lasts a while longer. Since the very long winter lasts up to March, in Canada. Snif! Snif!
Thanks a lot, I do enjoy it. 🙂 🙂
I can hardly believe that wordpress snow would make me so ridiculously happy! It’s the most snow that is going to fall in my part of the world. Thank you very much!
Nick, I too am from Northern Michigan, Boyne City to be exact, at we are in for a HUGE snow storm. Is there a way to change the flurries into a blizzard?
ya .. it’s super… my theme already look like the snow and this application got nice.
Thank you so much. You’ve enabled me to do wonderful things in cyberspace 🙂
Nish suggested that you bring more seasonal stuff to WordPress.

Falling snows are great! But do you have an option to turn it off while editing posts? It makes my screen hang up and increase my CPU process to 100%. 🙂
Yep. Use the ‘Prevent Snow’ link in the post to turn off the snow.

Blogging will finally be festive for a month or two…
Thank you very much! Very festive. I really love it. -F
looks very beautiful
love that snow!
In the past, the indians dance araund the fire when coming the first appearance of the snow. The snow is one of the wonderful works that are had in the earth. It is one result of the three states of water. Wonderful!!!
At the moment, part of the humanity around the Earth, sees the snow like a hindrance, as something annoying that it prevents them to make his daily activities egoistic. On the other hand there are people who really are thankful for a day or several of snow by the simple fact to feel beautifull of the cold winter. A little beyond, we can see that many people thank in their heart to the creator of the snow, and they feel been thankful by this sample of its kindness that is the snow. Eternlife.
Very nice! It snows on my blog. Thank you very much!

Such a lovely idea!
can you enable it for longer then the one month period? as up here in Canada it snows for almost five months!
Thanks so much. Why does it end in January? That’s when the serious snow starts to fall in the real world:-)
I missed it last year but will definitely be using it now. Being from the UK, we tend to get snow around January and February, is there any chance that this effect will last the entire winter season or is it just Christmas based?
thanks!
more snow!!!!
Love, Love, Love the Snowy Effect!! Perfect for my blog on Paddle Tennis which is a winter racquets sport played outdoors in all conditions. My “header” picture looks perfect with the snow falling.
