You can now send your WordPress.com posts to Facebook.
Joining our Yahoo and Twitter features is the latest in WordPress.com’s Publicize family: Facebook.
The feature can be enabled from your Dashboard → My Blogs admin page. Once you enable it, you’ll be directed through an authorization procedure to confirm that you want to connect your WordPress.com blog and your Facebook account.
These connections are per blog and per user, so those of you with several blogs can choose which ones to connect, and those of you with multiple authors on one blog can each hook up your Facebook accounts separately.
More details can be found on the Publicize support page.
Update
Some of you may have been getting error messages asking you to authorize your connection with Facebook even though you already did that.
We think we’ve found this bug, so the error message will go away, but you’ll have to re-authorize that connection once more. Go back to My Blogs, uncheck Facebook, recheck Facebook and click the authorization button again. If that doesn’t work go through the steps outlined here. Failing that, we’ll be happy to help you out if you contact support.
Great, It was about time to have more interconection with other services. It will help me to save time.
This is really awesome!!!
Good stuff! 🙂
this is what i’ve been waiting for
finally! I actually use twitter to post my wp blogs to facebook but now at least it can be automatic already. Kudos!
Good!..but thr is already so much cluttering of info here n there..will avoid it..
Thanks this is cool!
What format does it show up as? is it the whole post or just the heading? And if people read it from your facebook does it count as a view on your wordpress?
Not the whole post — see the image above at the top of the page. Folks will click through from Facebook to your WordPress.com blog to read the full post so it will indeed count as a view on your blog.
way cool. love it 🙂
it would be great if they would add a forum
Wow that’s Great!
Facebook is evil
Thanks for posting this…
However, I think I’m stuck…I have a plain wordpress.com blog (non selfhosted) and I cant enable this feature as you’ve outlined…. -The feature can be enabled from your Dashboard → My Blogs admin page. Once you enable it, you’ll be directed through an authorization procedure to confirm that you want to connect your WordPress.com blog/
I’m also interested in linking to Twitter, but appearently one has to approve the connection before doing anything…Trouble is, I dont know how to do it!
Anyone there, can you help?
THanks,
Please contact support, they’ll help you set this up. https://wordpress.com/support/contact/
I didn’t see this question posted, but I currently have my blog on my personal website (not a wordpress.com url). If I link to Facebook, will the update posts on Facebook contain a link to my wordpress.com blog or is there a way to have it link to my personal url?
Publicize only works with WordPress.com blogs. If you’ve got a domain mapped site that is hosted here at WordPress.com you can use Publicize.
Thanks WordPress! I am also in the crew who is hoping for the ability to post to our facebook page’s account instead of personal account! My blog is for my hobby/business and it would be great to integrate all of these things!
I can’t wait to try this new feature. I think having a direct connection with Facebook makes things some much easier.
I have my facebook account to get feed from my WP and has been working well. Not really sure about this new feature
I don’t want to spam all my friends on FB — but I would maybe like to post selected items. So if you could add a “per post” option to the existing “per blog — per author” options, that’d be awesome.
Thanks, rudi
Facebook Page? 😦
just what i’m waiting for!
Hurray, I sent an email to wordpress support and they ‘fixed’ My Blogs page. Now I get a list of my Blogs and under each of them (I have 2 blogs) there is a box for all the 3 services: Twitter, Facebook and Yahoo. At LAST!
Thanks!
nice one! thanks!
Jo
well i will be greatly happy because i am a big facebooker and that is like all i do when im on the computer i love playing farm ville to but i guess since it is fixed or it should be then i dont have any grief of getting on any more thank you very much!!!!!!
getting it to support facebook pages would be good
I guess now my friends IRL can actually know I write a blog. lol!
Wow!
How do you get the format of a video to be able to post it? I’ve tried all my videos but they don’t work!
I would like to let you know that WordPress is the best and now that I can hook it up to my Facebook is even sweeter.
thanks for the good feature
yay!! i should go back to FB now:))
i really love this feature…been looking forward for this ever since i created an account here! now i dont have to repost in fb or create separate links. I wonder if we can tag friends too?
tell me how to post my blog on twitter and how to add twitter on my blog
any plans to do the same with myspace?
This is not working for me at all. People are just clicking on the like sign and not even reading my post. My stats are dropping when they were about to take off. Frustrated.
Wow! the ability to connect it to FB makes this Dutch guy very happy 🙂 ! And the rest of our team as well!!!
okay this might be a very stupid question, but i’m relatively new to blogging so bear with me. This will not mean that FB will be able to claim ownership over anything in your blogs right? I’ve always thought that FB can claim ownership to anything you say or do on FB and that’s why I’m blogging instead….
I just publicized my first blog, love it thanks wordpress
Bit off-topic, but how can you add a gadget to show a link to a Facebook group on a wordpress blog? I’m brand new from blogger – wordpress looks much smarter but haven’t got my head around it yet!
this is great, but it’s making me ok FB on every post. Is there a way to make this automatic?
Curious Blogging Newbie ~ why would someone want their blog and their facebook page linked? what are the benefits? Maybe I’d like this option, maybe I wouldn’t, but I’m currently not seeing why it’s a great feature? Please enlighten me…thanks 🙂
This is awesome! Before I used to just copy-paste my blog post url. But now it’s easier. Thanks WordPress!
Pardon me for sayin this, but like a few people have said on this thread, this is repetition of information everywhere. Won’t really take much time for people to update their FB status and add a personal line or two, right?
Well, but I also see that a lot many appreciate the progress. Looks like you guys have done it again 🙂
Good to know, I just suscribe on the Facebook for that.
:D!!!
Great! I’m just thinking about it.
It makes me so happy in using WP. Thanks for the improvements.
what i’ve always done was to set facebook to pull my latest blog posts as a Note that appears on my Wall and is shared to my friends on FB. That does take some time before it pops up though. I suppose this is more instantaneous?
Would love to have photo and video support, can’t wait for that to be added. Also, does this allow multiple blogs to one Facebook? Also, what type of privacy settings do we have to use for this (looks like Public, but are there more private ways of allowing it to post to our Facebooks)? I have multiple blogs, but just want to post to one Facebook account, my personal one, and would like to have my public blog, and personal blog post to that one Facebook, but I want the personal one private, but still posting to Facebook, is that possible?
This is a very helpful feature! Thank you very much.
wow…it’s oke, thanks for this feature.
Thank GOD for this one!! it’s a blessing for a facebook addict like me!! This means wonder for my stats!!
WP is very supportive and useful blog
Good. Thanks Technology.
Would really like to see the thumbnail / picture configurations showing up very soon. That’s the only thing not making this way better than it just posting via Facebook Notes (which currently has those). How soon until I’m seeing my thumbnails / pictures?
good, finally support up to date…
Fantastic, now we can really be read world wide…Good job WordPress
Thanks for this new feature! 🙂
Now I won’t have to do it manually!
Is there a way that someone else can post my new blog updates to their Facebook page?
i’m really thankful for this feature…. love love it!
interesting, but, how about facebook fan page?
.
Very very cool..:X I just love it.
This is really going to clog up everyones Facebooks’ home page. Instead of seeing ‘Just uploaded some new photos’, people will be getting blog crap, such as my own “Deploying AIR Application and AIR Runtime (Redistributable) in Single Exe” haha:)
Making updates instantaneous. Cool
Really neat! Now my fam and friends can read my blog posts without me having to do it manually anymore! Thanks bunches!
This feature is awesome! Thanks WordPress!
Quick question- can you update the link in Facebook, once you’ve published? I often edit/update my blog posts after I’ve published (those darn typos get me every time!), so is it possible to refresh the already published blog post on your Facebook wall?
Unfortunately you can only link to your primary facebook page (unless I’m missing something). I have a facebook business page that I want to connect my WP blog to but there’s nowhere to set that option…
10/10 for this one!
