To activate, go to your Personal Settings page, check the appropriate box, and save.
I’m not going to tell you exactly what it does. If you’re open to new things and serendipitity in your blogging life try leaving it on as you go about your normal blogging activities of posting, commenting, checking your stats, and such, and see what pops up.

The point of it being a surprise is exactly that – it’s a surprise. I doubt the feature will start to work immediately – there’s not exactly an element of surprise in that, is there?

When I was putting adding a blog post, I had a check box saying “This post is super-awesome”. Naturally, I checked it…But I don’t know what it does…

Does it have anything to do with being on the WordPress Dashboard? Or being linked to Bing.com or having 140 visits to my blog in less than a week? If it to any of the three than I’m extremely pleased, at how the surprise me check box has worked for me.

Ok, all I noticed was a slightly different shape to the Publish button (I am not very observant) but instead of being fun, my first thought was “something is broken! Panic!” Still not sure if that was part of the surprise but I may have to unclick this option if it is going to scare me…

Okay, it is Wednesday now. I watched the New York Times, but I found nothing about a new WordPress feature. No new information here, either. I care about my blog and I’m not willing to take the chance that “Surprise Me” is something disastrously stupid. Sorry, but I’m not adding this until I know what it is.

Hi there, to turn off “Surprise Me” go to your Personal Settings, and unclick the “Surprise Me” option. Hit save after you’ve made the change.
um. I have not really seen any surprises. I now have a “Humanize” button, but there’s nothing human about it…just minutiae about numbers…and when I click the “this post is super awesome” button…nothing is different.
am I just technologically challenged? Am I missing something?

You shoulda done this on April First and then there should be a pop up like "All your posts have been deleted" and everyone would be like WTF, then on the 2nd it restores the posts and all would be well.
