We were thrilled to see several WordPress.com blogs — Eat Like a Girl, James Ramsden, Inspector Gadget, and Stilettoed Socialist — make the list of The Times article “40 bloggers who really count.”
On Eat Like a Girl, The Times noted the blog’s unique approach to cooking, stating “if you’re after a recipe for slow-roast wild boar belly, look no further.” The newspaper also praised fellow food blogger James Ramsden for writing about “cooking handsomely on a budget.”
Inspector Gadget was dubbed “invaluable” for providing “insight into life on the policing front line in 2010” and Stilletoed Socialist was hailed as the “poster girl for political social networking.”
Additionally, two WordPress VIP blogs were honored: Guido Fawkes’ blog and TechCrunch.
Congratulations to all of you, and keep up the great work! (And of course, we think ALL our bloggers count, but we’re always happy for these special accolades nonetheless.)
Well done, everybody.
Hey, I really count too! Everyday I take my kids to their gym class we really count how many steps we have to take to get there.
Congrats, people 🙂
Two can play at that game…”The Times” are officially off my 40 newspapers that matter. Seriously, congratulations to those who made the list
Many congrats! This platform for expression is new to me but I am loving it.
Really nice! So much traffic for the top guys too…
Getting there…
Congratz. Im a great sims 3 blogger! I think sims 3 bloggers should be added to the list!
Congratuations…well done and well deserved…!!! Hope to be there one day!
And, thanks WordPress! You make it happen…
Maybe writing about the single girl and her adventures will soon too be dubbed as “invaluable.” 🙂 Great blogs!!
That is why I choose WordPress compared to other similar services. Once I use WP i couldn’t think of using another.
Congratulations. Yes, it certainly is something to be proud of. It is also great to see the diversity in these blogs, as well as with the other great blogs/bloggers that are out there. Well done.
Many congratulations to the winners and, indeed, to WordPress. May this success spread on to other wordpress blogs…
Congratulations!!!!!! Is this a yearly list? I hope i am not dead by then.
Congratulations. This definitely inspires me to work harder. Thank you!
Jealousy is first to hit my mind as well. What do we do, we poor people that write our blog in Norwegian, its only about 5 million people that bother to learn the language! I guess you have to write in english to be a WP. VIP? I want to count as well!:)
Way to go!
I’m planning on joining you next year 🙂
Congratulations to all of you people making a difference!
Congrats! Glad to know someone’s actually reading these stuff! Hmm…I should blog about sex and relationships…instead of corrupt bankers and politicians and how they fleece consumers!
Congratulations 😀
I’m proud of you guys..
Keep the good works up!
😉
I salute you !
Congrats, you made it.
WHo knows- maybe I’ll be there one day. Meanwhile I’ll just stick with my humble homegreens blog…
Something to aspire to…congrats to the winners!
Time to learn how to touch type I think!
Wow congrats to all the winners. I hope that I’ll be featured on that list next year. Everyone should get the opportunity to share their thoughts, stories, and experiences.
Indeed Congrats to the four. It only inspires us to do more and greater knowing there are no limits except those we accept. Well done torch bearers
Congrats to them. Limiting the list to 40 tho is very limiting. There are many great blogs out there; my personal faves are WP blogs TheMudflats and ShannynMoore. But that’s cuz I like the attention they pay to the antics of s’error palin.
Wow, very cool! Congratulations to everyone!
I see how this is… 😦
Hah, just kidding. Congrats, guys!
Yes — this is very nice for the winners and for WordPress. Congratulations —
Congratulations, you guys! I’ll beat you to it next year! 😛
very inspiring! congratulations bloggers!
Bravo one and all
Well done everyone, blogging shows commitment and dedication. Awesome result for WordPress too
Brilliant individual diversity within the magical oneness. This is how it should be.
Like all fellow bloggers out there my aim will be to make the list next year. That doesn’t stop me being full of admiration for the ‘wordpress 4’ who made the list this year.
I’m full of admiration for their work and their words, long may their popularity continue……..
Interesting, I did not know that wordpress hosts techcrunch
Wow, congratulations all of you! 😀
Excellent and keep up the great work.
We the citizens of Mumbai, India’s commercial capital, who are fighting to save our local environment from the endless greed of Builders and their partners in the bueraucracy and politics find that sites like these are a beacon of hope. It is a tough battle but we know that the truth will triumph. Keep up the good fight, friends.
Any ideas how much traffic the winners get ?
Just wondering.
Congrats – well deserved. They inspire me to never give up!
Lets not blog to be selected. Lets write our thoughts, no matter who selects it…
There are people who deserve the attention and appreciation. My congratulation.
Gee I guess I’ll just head back to the basement…..
Wow i like literally just started blogging and now i hear there are 4 bloggers that are good enough to make the top fourty that are using the same site as me!!! well, congrats to all four of you and happy blogging. : >
One day, I will be part of that. 🙂
Wow that’s awesomery! Congratulations to you all. Keep up the good work.An amatuer like me could stand to learn a few more things about the wonderful world of blogging. Thanks WordPress for your excellent site 🙂
The Times doesn’t appear in my “Top forty news services that really count” 🙂
Congrats to all bloggers because blogging is taking over the world … other social networks may be important … but it is through blogs that people really enjoy real freedom of expression. We all count.
Well done, shows how the ordinary people are slowly but surely having more of a voice. And thank you WordPress for making it possible.
I keep seeing this post on my Dashboard, and it kind of bothers me. I think that if a blog blesses or helps just one of its readers, then it is a “blog that really counts.” This article makes it sound like those bloggers that didn’t make the list don’t count. Blogging should not be about the number of page views or if you can get on some list or if you meet all of one person’s criteria for a noteworthy blog. Blogging should be about sharing ideas that might benefit someone else. And if that is only one person, it still counts. Peace, Linda
I haven’t visited the sites mentioned yet, but it’s interesting to see they all branded a concept and not their names.
That is great news! Hope I’ll be there in a year!
Wow, that is fantastic, congrats!!
Of that list, Guido Fawkes in particular deserves the mention. Great blog
— Sean
Count me in there in a cpl of weeks! 😉 lol..
Ah! Four blogs that count being lauded by a media outlet that is superbly irrelevant.
Hmm! I wonder if my above comment is nice enough to get through the mind numbing and fettering “be nice censor?”
Thanks for pointing the rest of us towards these four great blogs!
Very nice. Congratulations.
A sincere congratulations and it would be very nice to join you and a very big thank you to WordPress for making this possible.
Who? The ‘Times’? Never ever heard of the “40 bloggers who really count.” Nope. Not a one. Did the Times include Juan Cole? He counts and is world class. What about Michael Rivero? Mantiq al-Tayr? Guido the conscientious conjecturer? Julianno Quirky? Well? Yeah, seems the Times has offered up a bought and paid for puff piece.
Very great “Grats” to everyone. Cheers.
How come I wasn’t on that list? 🙂
I love that my blog is fairly anonymous… in fact I’ve regretted giving it out a few times because I filter what I otherwise would have said? At any rate- huge congratulations- I love browsing other blogs and it’s nice to have a list of good suggestions.
Congratulations to them! It is always amazing to me that the simple act of writing thoughts in a blog can get recognition, and that people, on a daily basis, peruse the words that normal everyday people write, finding that we all have a connection, one way or another, that holds us together across racial, geographical, political, denominational and social economical lines! It really is a small world after all!
Chaiyo – that’s cheers in Thai. Congrats to the big-time bloggers. ThisOldMan salutes you. Now let’s see how I can get into the top-1,000,000 bloggers list.
Congratulations to all of them, am still on my way to there.. 🙂
Thanks to WordPress first for giving us bloggers opportunities to blog, freely, fairly, independently. Thank you so so much WordPress.
Thank you for at least featuring me, sometimes! I need more exposure. Congrats to all!
Just started a new blog yesterday from a young teenage guy’s POV. Congratulations to those blogs who made the list!
That’s very nice. Congrats and keep the good work.
Big congs to the four, let’s all strive to take blogging to a whole new level.
Let’s not only entertain or bring smiles to our readers, let’s teach, inspire, influence, and also learn.
“Eat like a girl” was really good stuff.
CONGRATS! Maybe I will make it to the promise land one day too!
Keep up the good work, folks.
Congratulations to all the winners!!
Wishful thinking, but what the heck… congrats to the four musketeers! LOL!
How nice, they deserved it!
Congratulations! I will be checking out these blogs…
Congratulations all! 😀
Wow… Congratulations guys… wishing and hoping someday you get to congratulate me. 😉
This is outstanding. Clearly, I am not talented enough!
I’m new to WordPress and look forward to a long association. Glad to see the extraordinary success of these four. Congratulations! Great work.
Congratulations… great work.
Fabulous! Good to see…
Nicely done WordPress peers! Very inspirational. 😀
Congratulations to the winners. May their posts always exceed 140 characters.
Congratulations to the fact that your account now counts. The countlessness of realities in between will neither be forgotten. On the contrary it might be a signal that says hi-ho. Let’s remember the tranquility of the rant.
Congrats, great job!
I’m so glad I joined the “WordPress Club.” I’ll check out those “winners” and see what I can learn from them. Bet they’re so excited.
Well done guys, read the blogs and I think you really deserve it!
Nice work guys!
Gosh, I’m so competitive! I’m always happy to see people do well, but what’s wrong with my blog? I think it’s terrific. It is packed wiih well written, useful info. Have a peek… 🙂
It’s great to see bloggers getting recognition for the work they put into their interests and causes. Well done to those bloggers mentioned. And well done to THE TIMES for recognizing their contributions!
I’m starting my new blog and this is truly something to aim for!
Do Somali bloggers count, or is it just a matter of language if not anything else? Having said that, congrats are in order.
Congrats to those four! May they continue to inspire the rest of us!
Wow, pretty cool! Congrats!
What we have here is a failure to collaborate! 😛 Congrats to our fellow bloggers!
Those four are such inspirations!! But I have to post notice that they are going to be competing with my Spirit Guides. Now if those dudes don’t have the power to compete, then I’ll quietly recede into my feet-of-clay existence. 🙂
O.K. I’m jealous, too.
Great news for us WordPressers. There’s hope for the others, what say?
Great work, congrats and keep it up.
Pft, once I get this going, they better be ready to trade up.
