We were thrilled to see several WordPress.com blogs — Eat Like a Girl, James Ramsden, Inspector Gadget, and Stilettoed Socialist — make the list of The Times article “40 bloggers who really count.”
On Eat Like a Girl, The Times noted the blog’s unique approach to cooking, stating “if you’re after a recipe for slow-roast wild boar belly, look no further.” The newspaper also praised fellow food blogger James Ramsden for writing about “cooking handsomely on a budget.”
Inspector Gadget was dubbed “invaluable” for providing “insight into life on the policing front line in 2010” and Stilletoed Socialist was hailed as the “poster girl for political social networking.”
Additionally, two WordPress VIP blogs were honored: Guido Fawkes’ blog and TechCrunch.
Congratulations to all of you, and keep up the great work! (And of course, we think ALL our bloggers count, but we’re always happy for these special accolades nonetheless.)
why is it called ‘eat like a girl’? honestly, i thought it was going to be a blog tackling feminine issues especially with regards to body image and eating disorders. I was sadly disappointed. Does the world really need another food blog? No one cares about the arts, but in our obese country, people still want to read about slow-roasted pork? It’s a mad, mad world.
Hey, I can count too ya know – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6….. See!
Congratulations for a job well done.
Yay! Congrats bloggers! Its great to see some of us rise to the top! So happy for you! And I’m working my arse off trying to catch up! 😀 😀
Congrats! Now back to my random thoughts.
See, wordpress is amazing. Congrats to the 4!
Brilliant! It’s great to see that the community continues to grow and get recognized for excellent content. Best wishes our fellow bloggers! Keep up the great work.
Good going guys! Yes indeed you are an example set for us all!
And, I can’t eat. What’s up with that? Congrats to all bloggers world-wide. It’s great to have a home to write, express, whine, and share.
Hmm, I’m new around here. Maybe I’ll make the list next year?
Congratulations to our finalists. I am sure they would agree without WordPress our lives would be… shall we say not as colourful.
One day I will reach that awesome status. Until then I will just keep ranting about life.
Congratulations to you all. I hope if time allows I may visit each and evryone of you.
It is really outstanding to see how fast and how big this community gets every day!
Congratulations to you all! It’s one thing to blog your heart out. It’s another thing when other people connect with you on some level. I’m glad my blog is on WordPress too!
Nice job! Conan aspires to be that good.
Congratulations! That is wonderful and reflects in a small way on the rest of us.
Congrats!!! I’ve read some of those blogs and they deserve it!
Congrats to these people. One day I’d like me to be there.
Congrats…you’re all totally blog-a-rific!
Props to the winners, well deserved.
Wow. I had no idea that I was privelaged enough to enjoy being invited to the group, “40 bloggers that matter”.
I began posting on WordPress today, only! I’m not even positive how to navigate this site yet, but it looks as though it is s great blogging site. I can’t wait to get started.
Our congratulations to all the winners. Do you think they will get even more hits now? I wonder how their traffic was when they did their first blog post.
Just curious!
Fantastico! Awesome blossoms on WordPress.com! \o/
congratulations, im on my way to cracking up the list too.
excellent work – now if my blog can do that too it would be awesome!
cheers from The Australian Champion Town Crier
Next year ….. next year ….
congratulations and thank you for being an inspiration to us all.
Aw, TechCrunch! Wanna go there. 🙂
A big hardy congratulations! What accolades.
Blogging is knew to me what with a false start on ‘Blogger’, but WordPress is a world above.
Thanks.
Reviewing these, I can see why the NY Times found them important; not as individual contributors per se, although they are really great blogs, but collectively. Each has something DARING to say. Collectively, they describe the phenom that IS blogging and social media. This is US, Gang – no matter how inane, obtuse, or off-the wall our thoughts. And… this is why humans need contests, top ten lists and ratings – to separate the flotsam from the foremost. Kudos to all bloggers who won and to those of us still chugging along. Oh, and kudos to you, too, Matt and your fellow WordPress team. 😉
Thanks for the comment. Just to clarify, it wasn’t The New York Times who created this list, but The Times, published in the U.K.
Good work to all who got appreciation… keep it up.
That’s great! Congrats to all of them.
That’s really something to crow about!
Absolutely brilliant! Congratulations!!! 🙂
Cool! These dudes sure know how to get people reading… But then how come the first two are all about food? Shows just how much humans love their food! 😉
Great! Really wonderful! Congratulations!
Congrats to the winners. Hopefully I will be next. 😉
Congratulations! I’m heading off to look at what category I could fall in next year. 🙂
Congratulations. I’m really impressed 🙂
I must admit I haven’t read any of the blogs that made the winners list, perhaps it would be good to find out on what the jury based its decision? I don’t recon my blog will make it into the charts (that’s not the main aim atm) but would like to thank and congratulate all the bloggers here. I found some interesting, some intriguing, and most of them are just fun to browse… All in all, I like the blogging medium and hope that it will keep on growing and maybe even start to expand in real life, after all blogging is a way of networking right? The potential of blogging is huge, it could rally people to a cause and help in raising awareness on important issues. I second the idea that ALL of YOU are worth reading and following, after all we can’t all be ‘political’, ‘gastronomical’, ‘business minded’, ‘ecologists’, etc. Long live the diversity of this community!
Congratulations to these wonderful contributors! Do the WordPress community proud.
Gratz to the winners. 🙂
Congrats! I wish my blog was that good. 😦 It only has one regular viewer.
Congrats to those bloggers. 🙂
Awesome, I’m going to go check these guys out now. 🙂
Congratulations to the winners. Enjoy the VIP status.
I can only keep writing and hope. Maybe it’s my split infinitives or dangling modifiers. But hey, I like my content. Congrats to those chosen for the list.
Congrats! That’s an awesome achievement. 🙂
WOW! Congratulations to these bloggers.
Beloved All..
it is nice to get noticed but it is equally important that we notice that we stay nice. Happy to see some people posting their honest feelings.. varying from sheer joy, to jealously and tendency of comparison.. it may not be right in the books of morality to feel jealous and compare but it does takes courage to be so. First of all I congratulate them and then my Congratulations to those 4. I pray they keep working in all their humility for the change they wish to bring around using power of word(press).
Lets not be thrown off our sanity in order to get noticed.. Being nice does matter and each thought counts.. so what if those are read by none!
Love and Light
