Months ago we added the ability for readers to like your posts, and ever since thousands of people have been liking posts every day. But something was missing: there was no way for post authors to discover when someone liked something they’d written. Or even when someone new subscribed to the entire blog.
Today, these problems have been solved: We’ve added two new email notifications, one for likes and one for subscriptions.
Post authors will receive an email notification from WordPress.com, telling them which post was liked and who it was. And blog owners will receive an email when someone new subscribes to their blog. This gives instant feedback every time your post or blog gets some positive attention.
If email notifications are not for you, no problem. You can turn these notifications off by going to Dashboard→Settings→Discussion and deactivating the appropriate checkbox under “Email me whenever”.
And if you have a particularly active blog, we decided to leave some features off by default so you wouldn’t be annoyed. You can turn them on if you wish as described above. More details can be found in the support page for email notifications.
I realy like it ….

The little details are important. This is a welcome addition
I just tested this feature, and I do like it. Of course, I didn’t have much to choose from on the likes and the 1 subscription, but okay! Now we can stalk our readers, hahahaha, just kidding. Bad joke.
That is awesome! 🙂 Thank you.
So how do we get more people to actually look at the blogs?
Start by reading this: https://wordpress.com/support/getting-more-views-and-traffic/

Thanks tp WP team
Thanks WordPress. Liking all you do.
Not that I don’t like this, but I pushed the “I Like” button by mistake and now I can’t undo that. If one pushes a button here by mistake, is there a way to undo it? Facebook has a toggle “like/unlike”. Is there such a thing here? Thanks for all of your help?
Currently there is no way to undo. So be careful what you like! It goes on your permanent record! Just kidding. We’ll think about adding the ability to unlike.
Great new function. Thanks, kind thanks for all your support. Your platform is helping me to get my work product out there.
yes i lke,…you can view my pic 🙂
I totally agree with anilsignity ! Thank you for this option!!!

Great feature, thanks for this.
Nice .I like it.
nothing special
cool now i know, this has helped lots
by the way if people don’t like me 😦 will i get an email saying so
So far we have no plans to implement a dislike feature, but we’ve thought about it 🙂
Is there a way to tell who clicks the Facebook “like” button on your blog?
This is Great!! thanks for this.
Utile!
Spammers began to use this feature: they “liked” my post, and I received a notification with their link and gravatar.
I have turned off the Like button, but nevertheless a friend of mine (she is able to comment in my blog) “liked” my post, and I received an e-mail with notification. Is it possible through wordpress account to “like” the post without the button?
Spammers began to use this button – they “like” the post, and you receive an e-mail with their link and gravatar. And the only way is to disable the “like” button, or turn off notifications 😦
Zau: we are aware of this issue and are investigating – thanks.
wish someone would like my posts (other than my Mum who is my number one fan!)
I very much like the idea of being able to gauge traffic, as well as seeing WHERE it comes from. Thanks.
Awesome!

How do I put the “Like (#)” in my top menu bar? I do not even see anything about ‘likes’ under Appearance > Extras ?
Go to Dashboard -> Settings -> Sharing.
Thank you for making thing’s easier for Us Beginners!!
As a new blogger, I find the information in your post very helpful and encouraging. Thank you, Scott!
Thanks for the feedback system!
thanks!
Hi, I’m very new to this blogging world. I entered and began exploring only 24 hours ago, so I may have missed something. I really love the email notifications which tell me that someone’s subscribed to my new blog, but I wonder if there’s a list somewhere on my dashboard of subscribers. (Sorry, if the answer to this question is obvious.)
It’s not easy to do, but you can view a list of current subscribers. Go to Dashboard->Site Stats-> Scroll down to General, Click on subscriptions in the general tab. Then if you click on the number of subscribers, you’ll see a list of addresses for subscribers.
It’s a long way to go, but it’s there.
sounds like a good idea actually. should be good!
good to know
You know, I simply love all these email notifications. It updates me really quick. And this one shall surely help. Thanks 😀
Great. I enjoyed it all the way.
Best Wishes!

My personal view about Word Press is that its great to help one to express oneself globally conveniently through its most scientifically well maintained blog running smoothly on the net.

ow thanks.
I love what this site is all about so far! I have been searching so long for a blogging site that is free and has features that can allow me to organize my blogs in a presentable and appealing way. So far, WordPress is the winner….and seems to be the defending champion for a very very long time!!! I am new, and I am just learning the ropes of this website; and think I am catching on fairly well.
It was a much needed feature, as we’d like to hear from readers as to what they think of our blog. Specially, when someone writes about important online stuff such as Search Engine Optimization.

Merci!
Giant step forward!
Well done!
I don’t think the likie feature is on my posts! Help? Is it because I use the Tarski theme? I would really like to add this feature. Thanks.
You should be able to turn likes on by going to Dashboard->Settings->Sharing. It’s supported by most themes, and you can always change to a different theme if you’d really like to get the likes feature.
Super! Is there a way to find out who subscribes to your blog using RSS feeds (if they click it from your page’s widget)? The subscription notification is only if they use the “subscribe here” widget, correct?
Thanks!!
Maggie
who likes my posts ? hahaha no one even reads my posts 😦
