Months ago we added the ability for readers to like your posts, and ever since thousands of people have been liking posts every day. But something was missing: there was no way for post authors to discover when someone liked something they’d written. Or even when someone new subscribed to the entire blog.
Today, these problems have been solved: We’ve added two new email notifications, one for likes and one for subscriptions.
Post authors will receive an email notification from WordPress.com, telling them which post was liked and who it was. And blog owners will receive an email when someone new subscribes to their blog. This gives instant feedback every time your post or blog gets some positive attention.
If email notifications are not for you, no problem. You can turn these notifications off by going to Dashboard→Settings→Discussion and deactivating the appropriate checkbox under “Email me whenever”.
And if you have a particularly active blog, we decided to leave some features off by default so you wouldn’t be annoyed. You can turn them on if you wish as described above. More details can be found in the support page for email notifications.
I’m not sure this will apply to me, as generally, I am not well liked.
Nice addition. Although like others have said, I’d prefer these be tracked on the stats page at which point I would turn off the emails. Some nice stats would be a list of the top liked posts. Likes per day/week/month. Likewise for subscriptions. Keep up the great work!
You can view a list of current subscribers. Go to Dashboard->Site Stats-> Scroll down to General, Click on subscriptions in the general tab. Then if you click on the number of subscribers, you’ll see a list of addresses for subscribers.
It’s a long way to go, but it’s there.
How do I get more people to read my blog?

You made the longings into the reality. Than you
Great Help thanks 😀
This is great. Anyway to find out who has already subscribed….?
Yes you can see this
Cool feature – I guess I need to work on getting page hits before I can get a subscriber or a like 😉
A great addition
WordPress.com is a fabulous blogging world but Mars Man is still hoping to find more readers that like his remote site.
So far, after a series of blogs, Mars Man has a steady small group of readers that like his stories b/c he sends them an e-mail with his wordpress.com address announcing that his blog is out. He would like to broaden his readers pool. Mars Man hopes wordpress.com finds a way to announce one’s blog in particular categories (e.g. political/economy/).
this is great now I can promote my dvd better thank you
Unlike politicians a normal bloggers do care to know who’s voting for them.. Nice feature to help them connect’em all with bold lines rather than dotted ones…. but I would want bloggers to go beyond this.. get connected to all o them in real plane too if possible.

Great step forward! I like the subscription thing especially.
To bring social networking to your blog in this way is a good thing.
I think “Discover Who likes your Post”…it’s a great idea to connect oneself around the globe!
Reading other people’s opinion (what have in their heart) perhaps it’s a road to discovered new things
……as we have a freedom of speech…
nice thanks (:

Thanks WordPress – it’s like you’re reading my mind!
Please clarify. Someone subscribed to my blog, and the email I received said “We think they’re from:” and listed a city. So, you’re going to approximate or guess at the subscriber’s location? What if they don’t want that information revealed? It seems like a privacy intrusion to me.

“Your name, a link to blog, a link to your Gravatar profile and a best guess at where you’re from in the world. You can update your profile to change or remove this information.”
When you navigate your web browser to any website, the web browsers knows your IP address. Based on the IP address any website can guess, roughly, where you are in the world. We’re not revealing or looking for any special information that isn’t already available whenever anyone visits any website.
brilliant.
Great, it is really useful.
I really enjoyed this function. Many Thanks to Scott and team.

Nice 😀
Great actually! I like it 🙂
¡Voy a tratarlo!
That’s very nice. Adding “readers to like your posts” is definitely something we needed. Now I know who has subscribed to my blog and who likes it.
