The first fall of snow is not only an event, it is a magical event. You go to bed in one kind of a world and wake up in another quite different, and if this is not enchantment then where is it to be found?

December 1st makes a lot of us think of the holidays. It’s hard not to think about snow even if your climate doesn’t bring it. Once again, we’d like to spread snow around the world through WordPress.com.
To make it snow on your site:
- Go to your site’s dashboard.
- Navigate to Appearance → Extras.
- Check the box next to “Show falling snow on this blog.”
- Click the Update Extras button.
If you used snow last year it is automatically turned back on. If you want to turn it off, follow the steps above but uncheck the box.
Here’s a latin jazz version of Let it Snow to listen to while activating the feature:
Older computers may run slow or stop responding due to snow. Use the following links if you run into a problem (the options below only affect your user account):
Still loving the snow on my blog!
Got my snow on. It gives my space a nice festive feel.
Aww Snow…I’m rushing to do mine right now…. 🙂
How cool to see snow drifting on my page!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE really makes my blog Christmassy
Hooray. I ♥ snow and Christmas :))
Wish it could be permanent! Love it!
Why do you want to spread snow around the world? Don’t forget that for half the world it’s summer.
Thank you very much.
It’s wonderful!!!!!!!!!!
Aw, that’s lovely. Thanks.
I am from Maryland, and last year we got a pretty good amount of snow, but not a lot compared to others, however for us, 3 feet is plenty. However here in Charlotte, NC, with a hint of snow, everyone goes into a panic and I cant understand why. The worst is driving. Everyone gets so defensive and ends up creating more accidents. So for now, I ask that the snow stay away, as enchanted as it may be. Thanks.
So pretty – I’d love this on my website too. ❤
Can you do an equivalent for all the seasons?
Cool feature — if you live in the northern hemisphere!! Could we have a ‘sun rays’ feature for us south-dwellers?? 🙂
Wooow! It’s great I like it so much. I feel it has made my blog full of life, Thanx
YESS!! I love the holidays 🙂
Love the snow but super love the latin jazz version of let it snow!!! Who’s playing it??? Can I buy it on iTunes???
Please see the details in previous comments.
To be brutally honest I’m kinda sick of the snow outside. Now I can be sick of the snow on my blog too!!! Could I be so bold as to request the code used for this snow affect. 🙂
You can get the javascript code at http://www.schillmania.com/projects/snowstorm/
Was I the only person who didn’t realise it was snow? haha. I was just whats that funny white stuff?
Probably because I live in a location where it doesnt snow 😦 ever.
I am really enjoying the snow feature of WordPress. And I enjoy it every year. 🙂
Thanks, Nick. The Virtual Snow is a neat feature that (unintentionally) works very well with my header.
Peace, and a Cool Yule.
That is my most favorite xmas song!
I feel the snow breeze… thanks!
How do I to make snow in my blog?
Go to Appearance->Extras and you’ll see the setting there.
It’s snowing on my new blog! Love it.
Move the mouse and it blows wind-changing direction of the snow!
This is one of my fave features on WP. Absolutely loving it… and my readers love ’em too. Definitely match what’s outside my Window in chilly Minnesota 🙂 Could we have it longer than Jan 2?? ‘Cause our snow doesn’t stop until April!
Yea, it’s snowing everywere and it is christmas time! Great!
Wow. Jason Priestly is so whimsical.
Might as well have it with this cold! So YES!!!
We have sunshine all year round on this part of the world and it’s the rainy season over here right now. It’s nice to see some snow when it’s actually raining cats and dogs outside.
I’m sick of snow shoveling already and my feet are freezing…
Let me know when you have an app for coconuts falling and I’m all in. lol
I hate to break the news to WordPress, but making it “snow around the world” is a little silly when it is only winter in half the world. The half that have winter are welcome to have snow drifting all over their blogs, but for the other half of the world it is nonsense! What are you giving us?
You don’t have to turn it on if you don’t want to.
Thanks for explaining how to make snow on the blog. I love it.
This SNOW feature is literally SO COOL! I totally love it!!! Thanks a lot to WordPress!
Looks weird ‘coz my blog background is very tropical, with mango trees and all. Yet, SNOW IS NICE! And I SO LOVE ICE SKATING! 😀
Seem to me that my page is alive when snow falling on my page!
It’s snowing here in San Diego! On my computer screen….
Definitly snowing on mine 😀
It needs to be year round. Or in the fall: leaves!! Spring = Cherry Blossoms (or rain) Summer. . . dunno
Woke up this morning to snow on Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa…just beautiful! Looks like we will have both a white Christmas and a green Christmas here on the Big Island of Hawaii…Let it snow!!!
How I wish Philippines will also have snow. 😀
Come snow come shine, come through with the grape wine.
We will have freezing rain this week!
It would be cool if we could also have rain, floods, hurricanes, howling winds, raging blizzards; a panopoly of weather!!!
I really don’t understand the snow — what’s the point? Is there some kind of fundraiser project involved or an awareness goal? If so, I could get behind it but as it is now I just find it distracting when I’m trying to read.
The best is when it snows on a Sunday night giving you time to sleep in for the roads to become clear.
Snow on my blog, love it!! Keep it coming! Thanks WordPress!!
I am in the Tropic.
Please let the Snow fall all year round, otherwise let some bubbles fall so as to get the page more lively.
The snow made me stay home from school. I don’t like winter.
Hey, we just had snow today where I am!
Now I can ‘celebrate’. 🙂
This is so cool feature! My friend lives in Asia and it does not snow there. At least on his blog it does!
Sorry but hate snow! Don’t let it snow don’t let it snow.
I wish a happy Xmas to you all.
