If you were going to blog about one thing for an entire year, what would you choose?
Would you post photographs of your favorite place? Interview different people from your hometown? Create a new piece of art each day?
Here are eight unique blog projects (some are updated every single day) to inspire you to kick off 2012 with your own Project 365:
Blog Radstone

The goal, every day for the next year, approach one stranger, photograph them and promptly blog the experience. Rain or shine, hot or cold, healthy or ill, no days missed. I’ll do my best to create interesting photos, and for the sake of entertainment, work to get myself into a sticky situation from time to time. It’s a huge commitment. I’m sure there will be some hero photographs and some not so magnificent ones. Let’s see what happens!
The Creative Panic

The project right at this moment is to illustrate something (anything!) as quickly as possible every day.
36ixty5

Each day a new image will be uploaded with a small caption, phrase, quote, poem or whatever.
Everything Burger

I created 365 pieces of burger artwork for a year from May 17, 2010 until May 16, 2011.
An Afternoon With

This is a project about people. It is a project about our space and the things we keep and the things we don’t throw away. It is a project about looking for and finding connections we all have. It is about seeing yourself in these spaces. Every picture is a portrait of the owner – be it a room, an object or a view. Every portrait in the end becomes a self-portrait. So in the end this is a project about me.
Footballists

I often walk around the city in my beloved Liverpool FC jersey. I never miss to notice every other person wearing a soccer shirt, no matter how big the crowd. I’ve decided to approach and meet them, and photograph. Here are my brief encounters, far away from the pitch.
A Drink with Chicago

Since making Chicago our home, we have found that all it takes is one great conversation over one drink to create a long lasting friendship, change your outlook or learn something new. We have had so many of these experiences that we thought we’d start to share them as we continue getting to know the many fascinating people around our city. Join us as we sit down and have a drink with local entrepreneurs, chefs, celebrities, socialites, artists and athletes who all love Chicago as much as we do.
{365} Breakfasts

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. A blog to celebrate this is worth it.
So, do you have any ideas for your own Project 365?
For tips on choosing a topic, check out the Learn WordPress.com tutorial on Getting Focused. You can also find writing ideas, blogging tips, and photo challenges at The Daily Post.
Happy New Year from all of us at Automattic!
I did a daily challenge in 2011 that used a randomly selected word as the basis for my post. It was fun and really stretched my creativity. I’m not doing it again in 2012, but it did teach me to show up and blog every day.
I’ll be doing 366…Leap Year 🙂 http://www.mygoodthingtoday.wordpress.com
One thing worth noting, I think 2012 is a leap year is it not? Guess that means 366 posts 😛
I think this is a very good idea and I am using it to help me stay motivated to blog (I am a chronic restarter :(). I am doing this challenge with a slight twist. I am allowing myself to miss days so long as I make it up by making extra posts on other days so long as they are in the same month.
I posted about this on my blog and also made some support banners that people can use on their blogs if they choose. Anybody can feel free to steal them to use if they would like.
I would post Information that the world needs to know since 2000 years: http://echterevolution.wordpress.com
Very inspriational. I myself am about to embark on a journey of sorts, one worth documenting. Tomorrow as a matter of fact. Tuesday before Christmas, my five year old punched a little girl in the mouth. He as well as his seven year old brother were recently diagnosed with ADHD. We intended to take a drug free approach, but kindergarten frowns on punching girls in the mouth as you might imagine.
It is with very heavy hearts and trepidation that we will begin medication with Five after breakfast tomorrow. I think keeping a record of his.behaviors may be just what I need to keep my sanity.
Knowing that I couldn’t commit to taking an interesting picture everyday I embarked on a different theme based on this. I’ve called it my i52 project. Simply take at least one photograph each week (hence the ’52’) on only on my iPhone. (hence the ‘I’). One other rule – can only be edited or processed using Apps available on the iPhone. Started this back in October and can be found on my website and blog, http://www.grahamaylardblog.com.
I will run, walk, bike och go by inlines for 365 mil. Thats my 365 challenge!!
Is it really possible to blog a day, you need internet, you need time, you need patience and then some creativity and a topic. Or a camera, a usb cable and time to upload?
‘An Afternoon With’ is an interesting idea. kind of challenges you to think and be creative at the same time and may really maximize your writing craft. doing it 365/366 times though may tire the blogger. I’d personally go for it but do it on a weekly or bi-weekly (if the mood strikes me) basis. great projects!
Here’s my 2012 blogging project..
hindsightandrevelations.wordpress.com
It won’t be every day but I’ve still set some goals..
I would never commit to another challenge. For me it takes away originality and somehow reminds me of the Pied Piper luring all the rats into the river where they all drowned.
fantastic – not sure if I will have or maintain a theme but will certainly try to add some content every day!
Very good ideas 🙂
I have even started a brand new blog for Project 365 and here is my first post: https://onefrenchword.wordpress.com/2012/01/01/day-1-a-new-french-word-voeux/
I shall only start on 1st January of course, with one French word a day. Do please follow me and encourage me to keep going!
Some pretty inspiring ideas here. I am always open to new and exciting ideas to start my eating day with so I will definitely be following OneBreakfastaday. Well done and heres wishing you all successful blogging in 2012!
A photo a day is my plan. Photos can be very interesting of scenery, people, and every day things that you wouldn’t guess unless it had a caption.
Start today the project 365 – Words for Today – A new message every day! For a good understanding one word is enough. Much will learn this next coming year! Visit from January 1 https://palavrasparahoje365.wordpress.com
More of a Project 52 person myself. 🙂 Setting up a goal and reaching it is very satisfying. Here’s to a challenging and productive New Year!
Have begun the journey, Just finished my New Years post. Thank you for the inspiration to communicate freely and consistently. Check it out hope it has resonance.
Cool stuff!
I was thinking of extending this idea – is anyone inrterested? http://kateswaffer.wordpress.com/2011/12/30/awesome-idea/
I’d blog with an orientation towards what I am calling “Lowbrow Social Commentary Art.” My StickyPhilosoper blog is the thoughtful half of my more tarnished and lowbrow StickyPhilosopher.com website. Both create comments and art about everyday…common stuff that actually isn’t. A 365 blog vow could be hard…but you never know.
I love this idea; it “gels” with a thought I had for a second blog about compassion. This is a delightful community, thank you!
This just sparked a fire in my head. Thanks for this. I love how every single person is so creative, artistic, and commited to posting every single day!
Hey Nice Idea , I will do that 🙂
Great ideas! I started one in 2010 but didn’t quite finish. I restarted again last month….finding God in each day and doing it with a bit of humor. Some days can be a challenge, but that’s my fault, not His.
I’m bloging about duct tape and it’s amazing stickyness and powers so people help me with ideas comment on my blog
What happens when I share my lunch each day …
justonemorefish.wordpress.com
I am currently undertaking “An Image A Day” blog on Tumblr (http://imagelle.tumblr.com/) and have a weekly photo blog on blogspot (http://ellesphotographicadventures.blogspot.com/) which I am continuing with on WordPress. I love the challenge of posting a different photo every day! It is due to finish in April and I am keen to start a new challenge on January 1st, 2012. Brainstorming now! Love the {365} Breakfasts!
I love the self portrait idea. A photo a day…hmmm. 😉
Blogging everyday might be a little hard to do, but will blog about using culinary herbs at least once a week.. Have a wonderful New Year!
I have two different projects I’m planning for the year. I’m planning on taking a picture of myself and blogging it every day this year as a timeline of how a person changes in a year and then will make a video of all days together.
I also plan on recording a video of myself playing a new song and posting it to my blog every week.
I love the idea of taking a photo everyday of someone in his/her natural setting. Doing something that defines who they are as individuals.
I am developing a project based on cancer survivors’ and the complexities of maintaining healthy relationships while making sound decisions about wellness and treatment. Although, clear about this project delineating the goals and narrowing the objectives has been a challenge.
There is so much about the topic – but, I am determined to remain focused. Reading the comments and dedication of those already participating in 365 (366) has been inspiring. Photos would add value to the entire project. Thank you.
I am posting a different whimsical story each day about a particular gift tag and its story.
Amazing everyday stories and images. I committed to a photograph and a post each day back in October. Its a worthwhile challenge as it makes me more observant. Since my blog is daily life in Beijing China, it doesn’t fit a ‘neat’ category. This has made me think of a more focused subject!
I love the idea. I will spend the next year blogging about pastries, what I have learned about becoming a self taught pastry chef and taking lots of pictures along the way. I’m sure some days will be more frustrating than others, but I welcome the challenge especially when I will have others reading what I have learned. 365 days of a pastry chef in the making ~_~

I have three blogs going right now; one for my cancer journey, another for my work and a third with my insights on daily living, all on Word Press. Because I love to write, I really wanted to take on this challenge, but another blog?! And every day? OK! I’ve got it: http://www.6222syllables.wordpress.com — a Haiku a day punctuated with photos. I hope only being able to use 17 syllables a day will challenge my editing skills and impress my readers!
Following!
Thanks for sharing the inspirational links! I’ve been wanting to finish a 365 project for the past couple of years but always fail miserably; I recommend Project 52 (52 weeks) for all those who fails on Project 365 😛
Great Idea! Thanks for the post!
“A year in the life of” A story in pictures and words, can’t wait to get started.
Well, I already blog every day about legally free ebooks I find on Amazon (and other ebookstores)… does that count?
This is a great idea, just doubt I’d be able to blog every day.
Every single blog listed here is Inspirational. I’ve just shot my last picture of 2011 – I’m doing a 52 week photo project. Looking forward to 2012, and might turn that Project 52 to Project 366 😉 in 2012.
Thanks!!
The idea is great.
Instead of writing on one thing, I will try to explore more things.
In fact I will post whenever I have time and the posts relating to my resolutions will be tagged with a unique tag.
I have found one & let the world discover it tomorrow 😉
Fun ideas!!
Here is my idea – wish me luck!
http://littlebettereveryday.com/2011/12/30/little-better-every-day/
I’m going to keep a journal of what happens to me every day, starting tomorrow. I’ve never been good with journals, but I’m going to do my best this time.
My commitment for 2012 is to post 1 inspirational photo/quote for each day of the year. I would love to blog every single day but being on the road 24/7 does not always allow that; I do not always have wifi access. My plan is to blog once a week about my travels around the U.S. I did it this summer and it was a lot of fun!
I don’t see a place to sign up for Project 365. So I’ll just mention here that I plan to do a post (or at least a postlet) every day on my brand new blog, http://worldslatestbloomer.wordpress.com. It’s all about singing and guitar playing and repurposing a life, so if any of that rings your bell, check it out.
Enough to made me inspire for 2012!
Love the idea and have decided on a topic of 2012. Our new blog will honor a veteran a day every day of the year for 2012.
http://365vets.wordpress.com/
Our goal is not only to honor our veterans, but to share their stories. We want to give the world a glimpse in to the real lives of our veterans. The good. The Bad. The Ugly. The Tragedy. The Triumph. The Sacrifice. We hope that you will join us in honoring these brave men and women in 2012.
Well, I plan to post a children’s song or rhyme every weekday. I find the idea massively motivating- so many ideas, so many songs!
Ridding myself of 365 (or 366, whatever.) items in my household. One item of useless clutter each day. That’s easy, right??
My Project 365 is going to be “find a smile” each and every day. http://kiwiflossnz.wordpress.com/2011/12/31/project-365-find-a-smile/
Good luck to everyone for your writing challenge
This helped me get inspired to start a project called Learning 365 in which I will post something I learn everyday on my blog. Thanks!
This is a wonderful idea!!!
In 2012, I plan to blog daily based on The Book Of Awakening by Mark Nepo at http://illtakecareofyou.wordpress.com. The book is made up of daily teachings and lessons, so after reading daily I will post my thoughts. I know it will be daunting, but I’m sure it will be a good way of distracting myself from some things happening in my life.
Wishing you all an amazing 2012.
Nice idea, hope I can keep up!
Having read everyone’s comments, I am now sitting on the fence. Yes, it is a big commitment and encouragement to write, but yes, to write every day could become repetitive. However, the more we practise the better we can get. I’m inspired: 366 days and 26 years in my garden will be my theme.
I’m smack in the middle of a Year in Fiction – writing something every day, starting May 22, 2011 and going until May 22, 2012. It’s been a lot of fun, very illuminating, and an excellent challenge.
Mmmmmm!!! Great! With this idea, I wouldn’t panik if the year had 500 days*wink*
Approaching a new potential customer a day is my 365 goal!
MCatherine
Great opportunity to watch every day for an inspiring picture or story about the Latino migrants…
My 365 is actually Project363 and I’m really looking forward to keeping up with it! Thanks for the support and inspiration!
Great things to learn….
I love your blogs. 🙂
I try and blog at least once a week and these are really encouraging. I will attempt to blog more often in 2012 sharing tips for working with metal clay, enamel, jewellery making and showing development steps in my own work http://metal-clay.com
I started today with http://www.my365snapshots.wordpress.com
Looking forward to post one snapshot a day with a motive that say something about it 🙂
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!
Great inspirering blogs!
I’ve started my own blog and rl project for 2012. It’s a cliché, I’m afraid, since it’s all about working out. It’s also in Norwegian, so I guess most of you won’t get anything useful out of it. 😉 My hope is that the blog can help me and some of my readers to get (back) in shape, and live a healty life.
Superb Idea 😀
I start 01.01.2012 and hopefully I will be able to do it – it is a big challenge – and my theme will probably be my daily life – added with photographs
Thats for sharing this 🙂
I don’t think i could dedicate myself to 365 posts a year.
52 adventures in a year sounds more like my deal!!!
My 365 is dedicated to the Art of Tap Dancing. I just published my 1/1/12 post at tap365.wordpress.com! Join me each day if you are interested in tap dancing!
I have had a blog since 2007′ but this year I have started a new one on WordPress so I can do a 365 blog of photos of the Chesapeake Bay and learn how to use WordPress.
Doing my own Project 365 this year: Food and Drink and Fatherhood at http://www.jamesrovira.com. Thank you for the inspiration…
I haven’t decided yet if I want to keep to the same theme for the whole year, or perhaps a new theme each month? Change is good, yes? And as Professor Aubert was fond of saying… “la seule constante dans la vie est le changement.”
I post a short short story every day. I like to think of my daily post as a consistent, quick jog around the block instead of a 3K or marathon run.
Agree with Manoj. Project52 more achievable and maybe more interesting/better quality posting too? I think the best blogs are those with a strong, consistent theme, not the ‘this is what I had for breakfast’ stuff.
I tried to post everyday last year, but failed. I’ll try again this year 😀
Who ever suspected that blogging could evolve into such an art form?! The possibilities are endless and enormous. Imagine the little house frou cutting and pasting recipes and blossoming into the next Rachel Ray, or the techie reaching out to millions of less technologically savvy folks…or the sports enthusiast fetilizing the cravings of kindreds….
I am happy to be here amidst the garden of creativity and look forward to some rich stuffs from my co-bloggers.
Happy new year to all of you!
~As always, from Paris with love.
Just finished mine… It is a very rewarding experience!
I knew immediately I needed to start a blog and document my journey out from under the clutter. Wish me consistency and perserverence. I really want to make this happen for my own sanity and happiness.
Interesting and creative blog ideas. Not sure I want to limit myself to one theme though. It will be interesting to see what WP bloggers do with this idea. And since 2012 has 366 days, I guess everyone will get at least one day off!
These are really great ideas! Now I think I’m gonna start my own project, where I describe an event or feeling each day with a SAT word. Hopefully this will increase my knowledge and skills in SAT words and I can cherish everyday! 😀
Good luck to you all and Happy New Year!
I have decided to blog about a recipe each day. Whether is it is a family recipe or a new one, I will create a dish and post info with a picture on my blog each day this year. I started a few days ago, but I will count today (January 1st) as the beginning of my project. Check it out!
This is a very inspirational idea. I think I’ll probably go with the 52 week idea as opposed to the once a day – a lot of commitment there. But I’ll follow a couple of these blogs now. Good luck, all!
Three hundred and sixty days to blog about books. Love it!
I’m doing this! Starting today I’ll be doing a new D.I.Y project every day making crafts, jewelry, and decor! Check it out! http://jocelyn365.wordpress.com/
All of these are great ideas, but unfortunately I feel like any ideas I have are forced. I wish that something would come naturally to me that would be new and interesting.
I blog every day on using art in ministry. in 2011 I did a piece of art every day for a year. That can be seen at http://amokarts.com/ayearinart.html
I’d like to blog about A Beautiful Moment I experience everyday. I’ll add it as a category to my normal Misseytwisted blog. The entries will spotlight simple, funny, inspirational or touching moments I experience each day.
Awesome idea! Those all look like they are going to be fantastic blogs!!
I started my own Project 365 today. I’m going to watch and review a new movie every day
One can only try! But, as commentor Steve points out, perhaps it should be the 366 Project. 🙂
My project: a thought, tip, quote, activity or picture book story suggestion: helping young children build self-esteem and develop reading readiness skills while giving parents a newfound sense of confidence in their own parenting skills.
I honestly just created a blog today seeing how far I can get on Maplestory (an online game) with my OCD. Sadly it not a daily blog and currently waiting for a good starting point so it is pretty much dead at the moment. I am starting it as a New Year’s goal.
These listed blogs seem to be quite hard even if not daily.
Everything Burger surely look entertaining, I may have to check that out.
Thanks for the ideas…. I’m thinking of happiness project. Not sure how it works, but will definitely try to find a reason each day to be happy about. http://menonh.wordpress.com/
I’m onboard with Project 365 for 2012.
Here is my challenge 365- ALL PHOTO’s original
I have decided to join the 365 project. I will blog about anything I may have learned that day.
