If you were going to blog about one thing for an entire year, what would you choose?
Would you post photographs of your favorite place? Interview different people from your hometown? Create a new piece of art each day?
Here are eight unique blog projects (some are updated every single day) to inspire you to kick off 2012 with your own Project 365:
Blog Radstone

The goal, every day for the next year, approach one stranger, photograph them and promptly blog the experience. Rain or shine, hot or cold, healthy or ill, no days missed. I’ll do my best to create interesting photos, and for the sake of entertainment, work to get myself into a sticky situation from time to time. It’s a huge commitment. I’m sure there will be some hero photographs and some not so magnificent ones. Let’s see what happens!
The Creative Panic

The project right at this moment is to illustrate something (anything!) as quickly as possible every day.
36ixty5

Each day a new image will be uploaded with a small caption, phrase, quote, poem or whatever.
Everything Burger

I created 365 pieces of burger artwork for a year from May 17, 2010 until May 16, 2011.
An Afternoon With

This is a project about people. It is a project about our space and the things we keep and the things we don’t throw away. It is a project about looking for and finding connections we all have. It is about seeing yourself in these spaces. Every picture is a portrait of the owner – be it a room, an object or a view. Every portrait in the end becomes a self-portrait. So in the end this is a project about me.
Footballists

I often walk around the city in my beloved Liverpool FC jersey. I never miss to notice every other person wearing a soccer shirt, no matter how big the crowd. I’ve decided to approach and meet them, and photograph. Here are my brief encounters, far away from the pitch.
A Drink with Chicago

Since making Chicago our home, we have found that all it takes is one great conversation over one drink to create a long lasting friendship, change your outlook or learn something new. We have had so many of these experiences that we thought we’d start to share them as we continue getting to know the many fascinating people around our city. Join us as we sit down and have a drink with local entrepreneurs, chefs, celebrities, socialites, artists and athletes who all love Chicago as much as we do.
{365} Breakfasts

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. A blog to celebrate this is worth it.
So, do you have any ideas for your own Project 365?

Happy New Year from all of us at Automattic!
Really like the idea of tracking the year with this. Could imagine looking back at the end to see the process and what it has turned into. Requires a lot of discipline on the blogger’s part though. Do I have it? Only time will tell! But it’s a fantastic idea.
i started a 365 yesterday. thanks for all the inspiration. 🙂
Wonderful inspiration. I started a 365 inspirational photo of the day! Excited!!!
I just started my blog!
366daysofkicks.wordpress.com
I will be posting something that catches my eyes related to footwear every day in 2012 (for a total of 366 posts). Mostly sneakers…
Check it out and subscribe! I promise it will be an entertaining blog.
Here is a link to my project365 http://365whatsthat.wordpress.com/2012/01/01/my-project365-idea/
Thank you for this post! After reading it, I realized it would give me the perfect chance to illustrate (literally) my point from the last post I had written! I’ve already taken advantage of this idea. Thank you so much!
these blogs and bloggers are inspiring 🙂 its never easy to presevere and give full commitment to this project.
this year, its a Leap year. So imma gonna be having a project 366! :DD
I had my idea before reading this, but it’s nice to see somebody committing to doing something every day. I picked movies and I just don’t have the time to watch a movie every day and write a review including all the pictures and links I want to add with it. I’m happy with posting twice a week but sharing something that’s hopefully well written, interesting, and with a lot of extra stuff added to it.
366 days of positive.
Ok first off to those of you snubbing your nose at this project, just shut-it. Really come on, this is a great idea for alot of people and your negativity is a serious mood killer for people that are too shy to try this and they just need that extra push to get out there and do something new, different or to just be more social. So that being said, I have committed myself to ‘project 365’ even though this is a 366 day year, that just gives everyone an extra day to do something special, wacky, fun or whatever. So for those of you that need that extra push, if you don’t feel comfortable sharing your ‘project 365’ with everyone, then share with just friends and/or family or no one at all, make it private, but get out there and see the world, make new friends and don’t let the few negative people stop you or get you down.
365 Highlights!
Blog about a highlight of each day, whether it is personal or public!
What an awesome way to focus on the awesomeness and the HIGH LIGHT for me!
Thanks for asking!
I’ll blog about things that made me smile, or things that I’m grateful for the day. Cheesy I know, but little reminders that life is beautiful would help.
I also just started a 365, but it is as a part of my blog, not the main focus of my blog, but in the end that is the complete idea of my personal blog anyway. The name “Mind on Shuffle” has been picked carefully and I notice that just because I have a lack of focus, people enjoy reading it.
Though, while my 365 is going to have an update every single day during 2012 (also day 366), it might be that it will become the focus of my blog for 2012…
My 365 is all about my cat. I know what some people think: Another cat-lady… well, maybe I am. And our cat is that lovely that I think it deserves to become a superstar, though I think she won’t like that too much, she just wants to do her thing and all I do is frame it and post it…
Let’s see where this ends and what idea I’ll have for next years’ 365. I know for sure, there is a lot of inspiration out there!
The New Year was just the incentive I needed for starting my own 365 project. It’s been on my brain for a couple of months, but now is the time to just do it! Although to be a nit-picker … being 2012 this is a 366 project : )- http://dogbreedzphotographyresources.wordpress.com
Hi all,and have a happy new year!
I just finished a 365 project with the help of 30 friends,a collective photoblog named http://las365miradas.wordpress.com (spanish). The experience has been so grateful that some of my friends are going to continue it with http://las366miradas.wordpress.com. I invite you to follow and support them, they are great photographers.
And thank Automattic very much!
hi wordpress!
luv this blog and am very inspired by the blogs presented here. i would luv to share my blog. it is about inspiring people to BE LOVE!
Since 12/22/2009, between poem, spiritual, culinary, maritime, historical, and rant-de-rave post…I have worked on an ongoing series called “Sons of Enoch”-twenty-twelve…working on it as we type in fact…seems this year, I will have an extra day to research…Bless You…
paul
Aw, I read this too late. Will save for future reference. Thanks for posting Erica!
Nice ideas! Thanks for sharing! =)
Great links, thanks. Something new for every 366/5 days…. That is a big commitment. Good on you guys!
Wonderful idea for a project!
I’d like to put in all my posts something like that (maybe a sentence, a little poem, or whatever that could be involving anyone) but that won’t change my posts nature. Every day I’ve got a lot to say but I might not be able to base my posts only on the purpose of taking on a topic all times. They’re all great ideas, of course and I appreciate all of them! Good job, go on bloggers from everywhere!
Sorry for my English, I’m Italian (:
How do I sign up to participate for 2012? I have seen lists for previous years…
There’s no need to officially sign up, but feel free to leave a link to your project in the comments here if you’d like to share it with others.
Thanks for inspiration….the gears in my brain are a-churning and a-whirling – spitting out ideas for 365 posts.
😀
I would LOVE to be as interesting at these people are! :0)
These are some really awesome blogs. I love the idea and I hope one day I will be on this level with my blogging! Thanks for sharing this!
I will be hoping to document the very lavish, at times ridiculous, and very delicious lives of NY One-Percenters, typically known as Wall Streeters.
Actually I started my 366 day project back on December 25 2011 (I have an abysmal record for failed New Year’s Resolutions so I thought I’d better steer clear of the Jan 1st thing). I am writing a new poem every morning. I just posted my ninth entry. I am also offering an entry into a draw for a copy of the book that will contain all 366 poetry posts. I use twitter and facebook to encourage traffic to the site. (something I learned in a WordPress tutorial!) and have been pleased with the traffic it has stimulated. the ‘Project 365’ is a good idea on many levels. I hope lots of bloggers give it a try.
What a great idea! Hmmm….maybe I’ll give it a try too. Thanks for the links.
I just spend an hour checking out these blogs. What an interesting bunch they are! Eclectic, anomalous, atypical and just plain good. Thanks to all the authors.
Im hoping to successfully snap a photo every day this year. It sounds easy enough now but we will see where I am at in two months. The inspiration for this project, Michael Kolster of The Daily Post said the first month is always the hardest. Feel free to check out my progress at http://funnyrunny366.wordpress.com/
I don’t like to make that kind of commitment. I’m sorry.
Human Capability is amazing ….2012 is going to be another usually complex year…..
We have been doing Creative Visual Arts 365 in 2011 and will continue to so in our blog: http://visualarts365.wordpress.com/
I just completed a 365 photography project and I must say I’m not going to do another one anytime soon. This year I’m doing a 52 week photography project.
I love this. It’s very inspiring. Thanks for sharing, and Happy New Year!
One post a day all year? Good for you! Me too! In 2012 I’m publishing a poem a day from a poem-cycle written every day of 1980. Love this once-a-day discipline. Good luck with it!
Have you seen Karen Amarotico’s blog – Pie a Day Giveaway? She bakes, then gives away, a pie every single day, and blogs about it all the while. Pie recipients have been friends, neighbors, strangers, children, public service officials – you name it!! She takes nominations for worthy recipients as well, and makes someone’s day – every day! It’s an amazing journey… check it out here: http://pieadaygiveaway.com/
What lovely inspirational blogs! I have just created my own blog, it’s something I’ve been thinking about doing for a while now, and the 1st January seemed like the perfect time to start!
I started my 365/366 day photo challenge! http://denziljennings.wordpress.com/2012/01/01/day-1/
365 posts using Alzheimer’s quotes.
Is there a place where we can track others doing Project 365?

Thanks for the inspiration Project 365 is already in the air! “365 Words for Today” will bring a new message every day over 2012. Within a spiritual view on the subject – https://palavrasparahoje365.wordpress.com – I hope to describe here the idea that the initiative for this and also help people to participate.
I’m also in! already part of the postaday2011 – just realized: I need to chande the tag/category of the let two posts!!
366 days posting about our lives as an expat family, raising multiple-language children – 3, to be more exact! 😮
Photographing our impressions of new cultures, new faces, new places…. New and wonderful challenges! Greetings from Brazil (for now!)
My 365 day project is to follow the “Sweet Poison” life change and end my fructose days. So far I’m suffering some major withdrawals and I am now understanding why the book likens the withdrawals to withdrawing from a drug addiction. But I know it will be worth it in the end. My husband has already lost 10 kilos with it. I started on 1 January so am only 3 days in on my 365 day project. My project is to monitor the withdrawals on a daily basis and document the successes as well.
http://fructoserevolution.wordpress.com/
My Project 365 is to find something I like every day and create an image to go with it.
It’s about optimism, creativity and the joy and fun that life gives us every day!
http://liketheworlddotme.wordpress.com/
Cool! Looking forward to a great year of blogging. Check out my photo a day / knitting blog at http://artofgda.wordpress.com/. Thanks!
some great ideals
Jasontromm thanks for pointing out that we’ll have 366 days. That means I’m not late on getting started with my Project365!
scary but worth a try.
I LIKE! one pictures a day!
Thist is a great idea WordPress and yep…you inspired me to have a go folks…My 365 day odyssey is called JUICY LITTLE TIDBITS… its not naughty or anthing like that…its just snippets from my first book. vgilvarry.com
Well I really did it I started my blog-a- day blog. I picked an abstract title that I hope will give me a lot of possibilities. check it out. http://piecesofstarlight.wordpress.com/
Last year I watched 365 movies. Not one every day, but a total of 365. I was very surprised at how easy it was for me. People asked me about the movies (What’s your favorite? What are your top 10? etc) and I never had a good answer. I would have to examine the list. So this year I’ve decided to write about every movie I see. Maybe not a full critique, but at least a rating on a 10-point scale. 2102yearof365movies.wordpress.com. I call the extra one the leapmovie. Wish me luck!
My project 365 is here —> http://shesmyhalfavocado.wordpress.com/ I’ll blog about different things but I have a specific project 365 check it out.
So many ideas….all impractical and surely irrelevant. But, perhaps impractical and irrelevant aren’t so bad. Either way, I post most days…just because I can. Come and visit me…and see how interesting impractical and irrelevant can be
http://www.takingcandy.me
We’ve been doing the post-a-day thing since we started our blog late last year, and we hope to continue doing so. (=

OK. Blogging 2011 was interesting and I intend to continue my Yaaning at http://2011onthebench.wordpress.com/ .The thing which will be my Project 366 is The Gem Collection. That will challenge me. Its a Daily Calendar with images from North Coast NSW ( Australia) combined with quotes and poetry and other oddities. Its the one of my blogs which hasn’t taken off at all but I use it every day and didn’t want to discard it. Nonetheless the lack of interest was wearing me down. PROJECT 366 therefore – KEEP MAKING THE GEM COLLECTION – no matter what and regardless of public approval ! http://thegemcollection.wordpress.com/
Great ideas! I have already missed 2 days but by the end today, I will come up with my won idea for a blog a day in 2012!
I’ve done a photo per day since January 1, 2008, and will likely continue, but might also start something else.
Inspirational start to 2012. My focus is on creating luck in your life and business: http://creating-luck.com sharing stories and ideas to bring good fortune consistently.
Words for Today – Project 365 – Every day a new message every month and about 2012, a new item. “Today” is a category, can be posted free on any day, aims to portray a contemporary to the events surrounding 2012. http://palavrasparahoje365.wordpress.com
A dear friend of mine, Jeff Harris, started a photo a day blog over 10 years ago. He now has over 4780 daily photos on the website http://www.jeffharris.org Although he hadn’t planned for it, the photos chronical Jeff’s struggle with cancer a few years after he started the project. The photos are touching, riveting, interesting and a very real account of life, to those who know Jeff or not.
His website is a wonderful place to get lost in a fabulous tale of one man’s life. It has taught me true dedication to a project and how it helps not only the person writing the blog, but those around him. I hope that you find it as interesting as I did.
I would find it very difficult to blog on just one topic and to do it every day. It would feel more like work than inspiration or passion. If I “had” to however, I would pick a business topic.
Had actually started a little project a few days prior to the turn of the year on these lines. Funny that I had titled it 365 days before I ever saw this. Here’s hoping that updating something daily can be acheieved. Not an easy thing to do these days. funnyidontfeelold.wordpress.com
I started my own Project 365 at my blog on new year’s day. Not sure how interesting the photos will be as I don’t have any “theme for posting but it will be interesting to see if I can actually commit to posting one photo a day to my blog. Already just a couple of days after I started I find myself “stocking up” on photos to have so I can post them incase I’m not doing anything interesting on any particular day when I can’t find anything to take pictures of.
Into my third day and enjoying the energy as I think of more way to chronicle Kindness! Thanks for inspiring me! http://thekindnesskronicles.wordpress.com
I started doing it in September 2011, and plan to continue every day during 2012.
Good idea!
2012 will see an influx in new projects for myself. I’m embarking on the 365 self-portrait, documentary of my soon to be road trip from coast to coast and back as well as a short ‘life-in-a-day’! it should be fun!
Love this challenge, I’m going to give this some thought.
I couldn’t think of just one thing, but rather than overthink it, I’m going to post daily whatever I’d front of mind as an exercise in discipline. Who knows I might find a focus later.
A few friends and I have decided to start something similar. Basically challenge ourselves in a few different ways this year and see how we get through it: http://25on25project.wordpress.com
Thanks for sharing!
PROJECT ONE= HAPPY BEYOND REASON:
Everyone is talking about project 365 – the idea really appealed to me until I realized there are 365 +1/365 = 366 days this year. Then project 52 caught my attention… but wait… there are 52 + 1/52 weeks this year. I did the math and decided that I prefer round numbers, you know… that things round off simply. Then I did the math again… it didn’t quite add up. but what if I changed one thing and turned the plus into a X?
365 X 1/365 = ONE
52 X 1/52 = ONE
This made me HAPPY. I believe in being happy for no reason. So, I’ll be doing it ONE day at a time.
I am trying to blog about creativity, music, relationships etc… the main thread for 2012 being a song/band a day even without too much or any added words from me 🙂
Started two days before the beginning of the year, this project will take the whole year.
http://viewfromthebackdoor.wordpress.com/
It grew out of a postaday2011 post which is linked from there. I’m still posting on my main blog every day too
Awesome ideas! Thanks for sharing.
I love the first one about meeting and photographing someone each day. That takes a lot of guts! I myself am doing a 365 project that involves making something everyday. It can be a sketch, painting, song lyrics, a new recipe, or anything else–just as long as I make something new. I’m blogging about it a http://makingmade.com/
Thanks again!
Jeanne

I have been writing on and off about having bipolar and the struggles but I was never consistent and would really only write when I would be in a manic episode that had me awake for 3-5 days and hallucinating.
I do plan to keep my project on bipolar but I am going to write everyday this time, even on the days when I won’t get out of bed, on the days when I don’t know what is real and what isn’t.
Instead of a project like A Day in the Life of…It will be A Year of My Life with bipolar 1 rapid cycling with psychosis.
http://www.bipolargnomes.com (@bipolargnome)
I’ve started mine! Hope to do it well with my self-portraits… 🙂
http://adehoje.wordpress.com/
I began on December 1st my blog http://worshipwarrior365.wordpress.com/ I am a believer, and the blog started out as an invitation to challenge people to press into honest worship of God for 30 days. However the blog was named… worship warrior 365… go figure.
Then I see this worsdpress post, I invite you to join me to worship 365! Everyday spending time with God and pouring out love to the one who loved me first. Blessings to all on your 365 journeys!
Thanks for sharing. I love the 365 Project
Dear Erica,
I’m a dance instructor, worship leader, and visual artist. I was perusing WordPress today and I was so amazed to come across your post …
I have two blogs: a creativity blog intended to share my artistic journey and the creative process and inspire others to a higher level of creative work in their own lives http://faithworksart.wordpress.com/ called “Made 2 Crate”
and my second blog created to share the journey of an original project that was taken on Dec1st, 2011 with my worship dance classes, called “30 days of Worship” That blog is… http://worshipwarrior365.wordpress.com/
When I started the blog in December, it was with the focus of doing a 30 day worship challenge, I was creating the blog and in the naming process, i just knew I couldn’t name it worship in 30! LOL it seemed so shallow. I named the blog worship warrior 365. When I stumbled upon your post today, I just knew that I had to take on the challenge. I know it was meant to be. I was meant to take on 365 as the blog was titled back in December. The coincident of all this happening is just too much for me!!!
I really want to thank you!
Thank you so much for your post and for sharing this brilliant and inspiring Idea!
I’d actually like to ask a huge question…I’d humbly ask if you’d be able to add my blog to the original project list?
THanks for the brilliant post and the consideration.
Tara
Wow, these are very innovative folks. I hope i can be that motivated in 2012! Happy new year!
Hello everyone
I am doing this too. I am going to post one picture, an experience, idea, afterthought or whatever that makes an indelible impression on my mind. I am doing it here: http://365by360degrees.wordpress.com/
Cheers to everyone who’s along. I will surely keep a track on everyone of you and let you know about it.

I am currently in the middle of a Project 365!
I started 65 days ago with 365 Days of Poetry!
Check me/it out at http://eastcoastinsomnia.wordpress.com/ (:
I just finished my 2011 Project 365 and have moved on to 2012’s. Last year, I posted one picture and one blog every day for the entire year. This year, I think I may add the occasional vlog. http://graciehart1.wordpress.com
I am blog passages from the bible each day for this year.
I’ve blogged about our life on a croft (small farm to the non-Scots) for the past 2939 days. Yes, more than eight years. But I was blogging well before that. Looking back, I’ve blogged for 6670 days thus far. Okay, I don’t post every day but I try to post at least twice a week if I can. Often more. I wonder if I can get another 6670 days under my belt…
Thanks for sharing. I’ll try this too. 😉
Great idea!! Probably need to create something different to my blog too!
I’M EXCITED FOR 2012!
My blog is up and running – http://www.366daysofkicks.wordpress.com.
I will be capturing something that catches my eye related to footwear – every day – for a total of 366 days.
Please feel free to subscribe and keep up with my adventure! It’s been so much fun so far.
I’m based out of Portland, OR and am surrounded by shoes all day. Guess where I am… 🙂

For 2012, I added a new section to my music-themed blog called “Cats”. The reference comes from “Dear John” by Ryan Adams and Norah Jones (“Ten years passed, and I ended up with a house-full of cats”). Every morning I wake up with a song in my head, and I’m never really sure where it came from. Like I left a window open somewhere in my brain, and it just wandered in while I slept. At times it’s a new song that I have been listening to a lot, and sometimes I think it’s just a song that doesn’t want to be lost or forgotten. Anyway, the variety amuses me, so I wanted to collect them all, a song per day, in one place like my own little house full of Cats.
Take a look: http://kbushman.wordpress.com
Am worried that I wont be able to commit, I would like to but … yikes.. what if I missed “one day” then the project will fail.. posted on my twitter on your post.. its pretty awesome .. whats your project 365 ?
thanx to share this with us… it gives me mad ideas to make 2012 more interesting…
What an amazing idea!!! I would love to do a 365 blog, but sadly I can only do about 4-5 days a week.. Which I have been doing since November of 2010. I started it out as a business blog, but someone how just came into a blog about life in general and how to make it better. Love some many of the blogs on here and this idea I find so interesting and love reading the stories they come up with! Also, amazing pictures are found on here!!
Thanks for the inspiration. My wife and I have made it our New Year’s resolution not to fight for 366 days. http://366dayswithoutafight.wordpress.com
To the person bloging about the Holy Bible Please send a message to me via ladyhugs as to where to fine your blog.
Thank You love God first than your Brothers and Sisters in Christ second.
love ladyhugs
I’m using a blog to visually document the real outfits I leave the house in every day. I’m not a stylist, or a fashion model, nor do I have a photo shoot scheduled, but I like getting dressed each day. These are real-time self-portraits and posts of the real me! Check it out at http://dressing366.wordpress.com
wow!! Great idea for those who can manage it. I know their are folks who can. I encourage you go bold and strong, keep your eyes on your goal you will get there. Each day take some time for yourself, something that will bring happiness, joy and peace. You are worth it.
Now this is inspiring! Im starting my blog for a year and hope i can finish it til 2013. More power to you.
I did a self-portrait 365 a couple years ago, so this year I’m doing a blogging 365 (or 366). A post a day about my accomplishments – be they big or small – in getting healthy and working towards a successful future. Kind of a non-traditional approach to a new year’s resolution. Good luck to everyone else taking on this project!
