We love our holiday traditions here at WordPress.com, and my favorite is teaming up every year with a talented artist to ring in the season WordPress-style with a festive illustration. This year’s edition was created by Australian illustrator Glenn Thomas, also known as The Fox and King.

Like in years past we’ve created desktop wallpapers from the art, but this year we took it one step further. Automattic’s Caroline Moore adapted the artwork into a new holiday theme called Cheer, available starting today on WordPress.com.
Cheer is a festive, textured theme in two color palettes, perfect for personal sites and blogs. Deck the halls with this cheeky little elf, then share your holiday photos and stories with friends and family.
You can read more about Cheer on the theme showcase, or preview it on your blog by going to Appearance -> Themes.

Cheers! The images are adorable and I love how it’s snowing online. (shame it isn’t snowing outside, I’d love a sneaky writing day in front of the fire)

i luv it
i love it, thank Matt ^^
I love the theme and its layout. The artwork is so cute! If my blog was based on Christmas year round this would be perfect! What would be nice to have is an interchangeable theme, like Cheer, where the artwork would automatically change to fit the season. 🙂
“Snowflake Theme” caused me to have a minor heart attack because I thought that my laptop had downloaded some terminal virus. I have clawed my way back on to my chair and am fully recovered. Just a small burn on the carpet. ‘Holiday traditions’ may now commence, forthwith!
🙂
Dear WP,

How Wonderful!! I wanted to say thank you very much for the Snow, I like it allot, but unfortunately it does not show up on the blog, just in the admin area, but I love that it’s there. 🙂
Hi Elaine — you just need to turn it on for your blog. Go to your wp-admin, then click Settings > General. The very last option will be a checkbox that says “Show falling snow on my blog.” Check that and the flurries will begin!
The artwork is great!
I love the theme and thought at home with cat had a good idea. And, you’re thinking, “they always want more,” huh? Thanks for all your time you devote to WP and the community!
I love cheers
Thanks for the Tip! 🙂
I just updated my personal blog with the Holiday Theme – and I have the “snow” effect activated – it looks really AWESOME!!!
Thanks – love it!

Where I am looking right now is it supposed to look like pixels are floating across the screen?I hope so if not I need my eyes checked seriously.
That’s our holiday snow. 🙂 You can turn off the snow for any WordPress.com site you visit. Just uncheck the “Snow” checkbox on your Personal Settings page here: http://wordpress.com/#!/settings/
Thank You Matt Thomas.May you and your family have a Merry Christmas.
The snowflakes drive me crazy.

Hi Kenton — you can turn off the snow on all sites you visit. Just uncheck the “Snow” checkbox on your Personal Settings page here: http://wordpress.com/#!/settings/
Then, I’d have nothing to complain and write about.
That’s what The Daily Post is for — to give you something to write about when you’re just feeling too satisfied. 🙂
Very well, Matt thank you. 🙂
OH…I thought the theme was ‘Cheers’….I was expecting Sam, Woody, Carla, and Norm at the bar in Boston….Still cool, though…
