I really don’t like dark backgrounds and white lettering. Brevity in text and heavy in imaging would work, I suppose.
Feel free to change the background color in Appearance > Background!
Nice palette and use of space – looks great on big screens too!
League Gothic, the headings font, works well – I’ve used that before and found it’s good for headings because it’s not too wide.
@Val maybe like “travel”… “tra-Val”! Or if we’re disemvoweling… “travaille”?
I think I would pronounce this travel or trivial…just a guess :~) The simplistic layout really draws in the eyes..and opens up the page to post something really exciting in that spot!

Hi! You can’t create brand new themes on WordPress.com, but you can modify existing themes pretty extensively with the Custom Design upgrade:
