Love…it comes in different shapes and sizes, and means so many things to so many people. On this auspicious day we wanted to show our love for the myriad ways you express love on WordPress.com.
Versed in love
We were struck by littlepeace’s haiku mediation on the “joy of now” when you’re in love over at Innocence Abroad.
(the) present
be here now — with you
driving down snow-covered streets,
evening armchair talksbe here now — with you
pea shoots, tomato fragrance
worm ends in rich soilbe here now — with you
laughing together, today,
with crinkled-eye smilesbe here now — with you
this moment, this moment, this,
enjoying the gift
Nicholas Gagnier‘s spare, beautiful love poem, A Crumpled Valentine, is a lovely reminder that when it comes to gift-giving, it’s the thought that counts.
Love in photographs
Photographer Steve McCurry has traveled the world, capturing stories in photos along the way. His gorgeous photo essay of couples, It Takes Two, explores relationships “evident in their gestures of caring, their body language, their eyes.”

Over at venerable photography blog, Time Lightbox, the beautiful portraits of husband-wife photographers Henri Cartier-Bresson and Martine Franck communicates the beauty of a life-long love in the photo essay, Love Through a Lens.

Love stories, in print, on film, and IRL
If cinema is your thing and you’re looking for the right film for a romantic evening in, you’ll love Flavorwire’s 50 Most Romantic Movies Ever Made.
Moving back to reality, blogger Kim Pryor shares the origin story of her relationship with boyfriend Chris and explores boundaries and privacy around love in the internet age in her piece, Introducing the Boyfriend over at her blog Pryorities.
Meanwhile Megan at write meg! reminisces about her first crushes — on the male characters in the novels she read as a younger woman — and recalls how the relationships in her reading helped teach her about relationships in real life.
No matter how you choose to celebrate, Happy Valentine’s Day from all of us at WordPress.com!
Wow! Thanks for the plug! That may have made my day more than Chris taking me to J. Alexanders…
And to you Krista, along with the rest of the WP editorial team!
You’re appreciated very much.
Aw, thanks Matt! Happy Valentine’s Day to you!
I have always wanted to visit this wall. Each lock has its own story. Thanks for sharing.
Love is Life ! Fantastic pieces by Kim and Megan 🙂
Celebrating with the WordPress community..
Happy Valentine’s Day my fellow dare-dreamers !
LOVING so much LOVE in this post! So great that all of us (especially those featured in this post) can capture all things “love”ly using WordPress.
I LOVE THIS PICTURE OF LOCKS! I’m locked in love with it!
Saw a great collection of locks on a Bridge in Melbourne. Wondered if it was just a local Phenomenon?
I have a padlock on a bridge in Paris, a month later we were over, just saying. Ha.
As Patrick Besson, a French journalist recently wrote: “I’m waiting for the day the Pont des Arts will crumble into the Seine under the weight of the padlocks! 🙂
That padlock thing…ugh. LOL I was never big on huge outside displays of affection. I usually prefer a candle lit dinner and private time. However in my older years, big displays of emotion seem more attractive.
