Before starting a new week on WordPress.com, be sure to check out the features that made a splash on Hot Off the Press last week:
- We launched our In-Page Translation tool for anyone who’d like to get involved with translating WordPress.com.
- From Brazil to Turkey, we celebrated a thriving community of blogging journalists.
- If you’d like to find the nearest WordPress.com-sponsored or -related event, we just announced our new events calendar!
- Speaking of events, our very own Sara Rosso reported back from the Úll 2014 conference in Kilkenny, Ireland.
Pro tip of the week: Do you enjoy writing long, substantive posts? Make your prose more digestible for your readers by splitting your posts into smaller chunks using pagination, or by making navigation more streamlined with page jumps. Check out this post if you’re looking for more formatting ideas for your longform writing.

Coming up this week
- A celebration of museum websites on WordPress.com,
- Tips for users interested in creating a website with a homepage,
- And more…
Looking forward to creating a home page.
Thanks for the shout out!
Hi – keep the Great Blogs flowing please. I have a Blog question to WordPress… My blog is getting full and I am going overseas next month for 4 weeks will need more space… Any way of getting more space without deleting what I have on my blog already… Help….??? Regards, Michael
Hello,
WordPress.com blogs don’t have a limit on the number of posts and pages you can have. There is a 3-gigabyte limit for file and image uploads — if you’d like to increase your storage space without deleting any files, you can purchase a Space Upgrade. If you’re ever interested in uploading video files as well, you’d want to look into the VideoPress upgrade.
good morning!
is there an end code for the pagination thing? or do I just do the ! next page thing where I want to go to a new page?
Exactly — no closing tag is necessary, just the next page one wherever/whenever you want another page to begin.
Thanks! It wasn’t working and then, it did!!!
Always love seeing the “Monday Morning Edition” in my reader 🙂 Looks like some good articles coming down the pipe, and you’ve featured a fantastic image above!
I’ve waited a long time for the page jumps. So thanks!
Comment on the Pro Tip This Week: When reading a blog with a really long post, if it isn’t broken up in some way, I will stop reading within 1000 words. There is something about being on a computer (I can read 1000+ page books) that my eyes and brain get overwhelmed with long posts. I really think those that want to tell long stories need to break it out into more posts – use Part 1, Part 2, etc…
