Maybe you’re working on a 365 project, with a photo for each day of the year. With a couple months under your belt, you might be looking for a new theme to showcase your work. Let’s check out four themes where the typography and color palettes step aside so that your photos get your visitors’ full attention.
Cubic
Made with photographers and photobloggers in mind, Cubic is eye-catching and bold out of the box. Its pleasing homepage grid showcases your posts’ featured images.
Consider this subtle, almost ethereal application of Cubic at WE THE BIRDS, a site “dedicated to the travelers, the nomads, the free spirits, the culturally aware, the expat kids.” The Birds’ muted photography looks fantastic with the theme’s dark filter option for featured images. Using the site logo feature, they’ve uploaded a beautiful feather illustration that lends a unique, personal touch to their site.
Minnow
Minnow‘s gray color palette accentuates photography. The social links menu knows its place: front and center on the homepage, it will encourage visitors to share your work on their favorite social networks.
We loved Minnow in action at AMSTERDAMMING, a fun, vibrant, photo-filled blog chronicling life in Amsterdam through Andra’s eyes. Her photo collages are particularly stunning. A short trip through her blog, and you might be ready to pack your bags for a visit or even a move to the Netherlands.
Radcliffe
Radcliffe’s full-width images are ideal for showcasing your latest photographs.
Check out Radcliffe in full force at JONASRASK|PHOTOGRAPHY, where, as a visitor, you get a wonderful sample of Jonas‘ incredible work simply scrolling through stacked images on his homepage. Jonas intersperses stark black and white featured images with brilliant color, to great dramatic effect.
Editor
Editor‘s large and sophisticated typography and gray color palette offer the perfect canvas for any photographer or photoblogger.
Rob Moses‘ sharp red and blue site logo is the first thing that grabs your attention, until you catch sight of his work; you can easily lose yourself scrolling through his stunning photos of life in Calgary, Alberta. Winter is particularly beautiful, as seen through Rob‘s lens.

Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing my blog! 🙂
You’re welcome, Rob! We’re big fans of your work!
Congrats on being selected for this showcase, Rob!
Thanks Steve! 😀
Cubic is my new favorite theme. Please check out my site and let me know of any improvements I can make. Thank you WP staff! Great job!
Thank you VERY much for this mention. Too kind!!! 😀

You do amazing work, Jonas!
Well, I really loved spun for a while- It is great for presenting loads of different images at once… But I think I’ll have to try out a few of these themes also…
I love Amsterdamming.
I love the Cubic theme. 🙂
So many options, so many beautiful blogs! How can a person possibly pick? Also, after seeing such amazing work, my own photography will pale in comparison to examples like these. I need to get out and about in Japan more and get some shots worthy of these themes.
THANK YOU for featuring us!! We are so honored 🙂

Love your style!
Some great choices there!
A photographer once gave some really great advice in one of the Blogging 101 classes and I shared it in a tutorial (with permission): To limit the size of your photos so that they will still display well online, but cannot be reproduced in print (a more profitable medium) at a reasonable quality.
I think that this is worthwhile considering if you are going to use one of these photo-intensive themes – both to protect copyright and also because these themes (except for Minnow) can be slower to download than other themes.
Just a thought!
My blog is not necessarily a photoblog but still many of my friends and visitors found Cubic Style very eye-catching and pretty. I would like to recommend Cubic theme to any bloggers who use lots of photos!
A friend and I started our blog a month ago in the Radcliffe theme. Although we just got started the blog looks so fancy thanks to this theme! It clearly supports a love for photography.
I use the Moca theme. It has a great side menu and large images.
Can’t we have some colourful themes? I would love to make my blog look colourful
Check out our Theme Showcase — it has a “Colorful” category.
Thanks for all the great suggestions in such perfect timing for our Blogging 101 assignment to play with themes 🌝
The Cubic theme is perfect. Great way of displaying the images.
You read my mind ! I have been contemplating since yesterday to change to a theme that supports photography – fashion , fitness etc and lo and behold , i see this post ! Thank you !
Radcliff is my fave!
Hard to decide between the four… 🙂
I am not a photographer but I have a Samsung tablet that I carry around with me for now. You have inspired me to take the plunge turn my activity into a project. I have been thinking of doing “Moments of Joy” inspired by the book: Creating Moments Of Joy For The Person With Alzheimer’s Or Dementia: A Journal For Caregivers…by Jolene Brackey
Krista, I just wanted to say that I absolutely loved the article and happen to love the high quality, giant photo-focused themes myself (especially Radcliffe!). Keep it up!
Really concise and simple…Thanks for making life easy 🙂
I use Cubic, and I am really happy with it. I know I am a total newbie….but why does “We the birds” page look a little different. They only have one row of “cubes”? It’s a beautiful blog well done girls x
Nice photos you’ve got there! One thing that “We the Birds” does is, they’ve used the dark filter option on their featured images. It creates that dark band behind the post title on each “cube” on the homepage.
All are stunning themes but Minnow & Cubic stand out for me. Very similar to the theme I have used, ‘Boardwalk’ enabling one to showcase their work graphically.
Using ‘Editor’ on my personal photo blogging site… It’s amazing theme.
