Finding your next favorite blog shouldn’t feel like scrolling through an endless feed, hoping something good appears. And for creators, getting discovered shouldn’t require figuring out an algorithm.
Back in 2009, WordPress.com launched Freshly Pressed, a curated collection of posts that entertained, enlightened, and inspired. It was our way of saying “we like you, we really like you” to creators, and amplifying their great work for others to find.
We paused Freshly Pressed a few years back, but the idea never really went away. And the case for human-curated discovery is stronger than ever.
It’s time to bring Freshly Pressed back.
What is Freshly Pressed?
Freshly Pressed is where we highlight standout content in the WordPress.com Reader. Unlike algorithmic feeds that reward engagement metrics, Freshly Pressed features posts because they’re genuinely good. Thoughtful, well-crafted, and worth your time.
You’ll find a blogger sharing travel stories next to a hobbyist breaking down sourdough science next to a poet who just hit publish for the first time.

Where to find it
- The WordPress.com Reader: Featured posts appear in Discover with a dedicated section. This is the best way to discover Freshly Pressed alongside everything else you follow.
- Freshly Pressed webpage: Visit the Freshly Pressed page for the full collection.
- Your RSS reader: Enjoy the best of WordPress.com in your favorite RSS reader. Simply add the URL of the Discover page or the RSS feed link to your feed reader.
- Jetpack mobile app: Coming to iOS and Android in the next release. Stay tuned!

Be discovered in the Reader
Freshly Pressed lives in the WordPress.com Reader, where your post reaches readers who are actively looking for new voices to follow. When you get featured, you’ll see it — in traffic, in new subscribers, and in comments from people genuinely interested in what you have to say.

How to get featured
Want to get featured? Just keep publishing. There’s no application, no special settings to enable. If you’re on WordPress.com or use the Jetpack plugin on your WordPress site, you’re already in the running.
We’re drawn to posts that surprise us. If it made you excited to hit publish, we want to read it.
We look for posts that:
- Tell a compelling story or share a unique perspective
- Show care in the writing and presentation
- Stand out with humor, originality, or strong points of view
When your post gets featured, you’ll receive a notification and a boost of traffic and subscribers from readers actively looking for quality content.
Not publishing on WordPress.com yet? Get started for free and your next post could be the one we feature.
Discovery without the anxiety
There’s no engagement score. No trending algorithm to chase. Freshly Pressed is a slower, more deliberate kind of discovery — one that rewards the writing itself. We think that’s worth protecting.
- Ready to discover something new? Find your new favorite blog.
- Ready to be discovered? Start publishing on WordPress.com.
Yay! Thank you so much for starting up Freshly Pressed again. I remember it from years ago and it really helped my blog grow. I’ve stuck around now for 16 years, not publishing as much, but still here. Excited to find some new blogs to follow.
So glad to see Freshly Pressed return. I was featured many many years ago and I still proudly wear the little badge I earned on my site footer. Will you be bringing that back?
Oh, that’s interesting! Let me dig in on our side and make sure the badge is available again.
This is great news. This is my 20th anniversary on WordPress.com and I remember this feature. Really great to have it back.
Love seeing this return. Highlighting craftsmanship over click metrics is a big win for creators and readers alike.
There were two Freshly Pressed icon-like widget “badges,” a rectangle and a circle. I kept the circle on my About page for years but lost it when I switched themes from Seedlet to Twenty Twenty-Five.
Hello, what languages is FreshlyPressed going to support?
To start, it’s just in English. We’d love to see it grow and represent other languages.
So happy to see Freshly Pressed return! One of the highlights of my blogging journey was receiving this illustrious feature in 2020. Looking forward to discovering new blogs and building more human connection on this platform with its return
This is wonderful news! So glad to see that Freshly Pressed is returning. Back when it was a vibrant piece of the WP community, it was always something to aspire to for independent bloggers. And when a piece of your own was discovered, it was such a thrill. Thank you!
Please do not take this the wrong way, but sometimes felt freshly pressed was biased to the workers’ favs – and then remember when someone had their blog feature harshly pressed. But I guess this is a good thing – if you think honoring a few and making many many more feel left out is a helpful thing. But that is just my thought right now – this might be a really great feature to help feature blogs and let folks see what you all think is the best – the cream of the crop – and hand selected favs worth featuring/
Great news! I will continue writing in hopes of being featured one day, and I will certainly check that section regularly.
What welcome news this is! I loved Freshly Pressed and missed it after it was gone. Four of my posts were Freshly Pressed — the first time it happened, it put my blog on the map.
A feed curated by humans instead of an algorithm. So refreshing in 2026.
That’s refreshing to know that everything is not run by an algorithm.
if by some chance I get “freshly pressed”, then is there any way IO’ll know about it. I believe that almost all of my traffic numbers are bots. So I’m singularly unimpressed by counts; I get very few “comments” so I guess my ravings don’t get widely read. Makes me sad, but I continue to “bang my drum”.
Yes, we’ll send you an email to let you know.
Nice! This will be great for driving growth for folks who share more about the wonderful things of WordPress.
This is something I think Webflow has done well with is their marketing and content production, including video content. This creates a great location for features content for WordPress, and I love seeing this for the community. Bravo, y’all!
We’ve been missing this. Beautiful work!
Glad to see the return of Freshly Pressed! One question: can I subscribe to the feature in my Reader view? This would be a lot easier than having to look for it under ‘Discover’.
Great idea! We added this to our idea list for future improvements.
@MELewis: We have this now! Subscribe to Freshly Pressed on the feed page.
Or you can use your own feed reader.
Fantastic, thank you!
Hello! How are you? My name is Sam Worthen, and I had a great experience writing two separate blogs for WordPress at the same time (under two different pseudonyms). Unfortunately, I had to discontinue them for a ridiculous technical reason (outdated browser) and have not had a chance to revive them since.
Instead, I’m hoping to begin a new blog with you in the near future. I look forward to it!
Thank you for all you do.
Sincerely,
Sam Worthen
As a long time blogger here, and someone who loves discovering useful and interesting websites or blogs, I’m glad to see this come back. Thank you!!
Lovely! I’m going to check this out right away…
Freshly Pressed in other languages?
Freshly Pressed is currently just in English, but we’d love to expand to other languages. Stay tuned.
I’m not a big fan of Freshly Pressed because of how it focusses so much attention on a few blogs to the detriment of so many, many others of equal or better quality and also sets up a completely unnecessary hierarchy. In other, less charitable words, it sucks up all the oxygen in the room. After 13 years on your platform, I was dismayed and irritated to see that “Discover” now defaults to Freshly Pressed when I click on it – this is an example of exactly what I mean. Would you please, please, not do that? It would be best if you allowed us the choice or at least listed “For You” and “Freshly Pressed” alphabetically.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. It’s truly appreciated, and we’ll take it into consideration.
Thank you.
