Update: We have regained access to the Twitter API, and Jetpack Social should be fully functional on all sites again! Please read our latest post here and reach out to support if you continue to have issues.
On April 3, Twitter suspended WordPress.com’s access to the Twitter API without warning. As a result, Jetpack Social — the built-in tool that we use to auto-share your posts to social media — is currently broken for Twitter. This means that auto-posting to Twitter via WordPress.com is not actively working.
Thankfully, this issue is isolated to Twitter, which means that Jetpack Social connections to other platforms are unaffected. Rest assured that you can continue sharing to Tumblr, Facebook, and LinkedIn without interruption.
You’re most likely to encounter this when publishing a new post. You’ll see this alert in the pre-publish sidebar:

Reconnecting won’t work at this time, nor will trying to establish a new connection.
We want you to know that we’re on top of this and working hard to find a solution. We’ll keep this post updated as we get more information.
In the meantime, if you haven’t checked out Tumblr recently, now is a great time to do so! While some social media companies have made recent decisions that adversely affect users’ experience, we’re constantly adding great new features and amping up what’s possible on Tumblr.
We know that social sharing is vitally important for spreading the word about your work, and we’re sorry for any inconvenience this causes. Thank you for your patience as we work to get everything back up and running.
Thanks for the heads up God-bless you!
Oh well nobody uses Twitter anymore since Musk bought it. No big deal…
I feel like twitter is dead so big loss

Is this a temporary issue?
Yes it was, this has been restored.
About time that WordPress/JetPack had a link to Mastodon since that is where the people who have left Twitter are going in great numbers

It’s okay. Twitter is broken all over the place. The “world’s smartest man” keeps jumping from planes with backpacks.
Hey, do you think you might be adding Mastodon to the Jetpack soon? It would be pretty great if you did.
I use IFTTT for cross-posting. That should still be an option.
I wasn’t aware people were still using Tumblr!
Elon M, the new Bonaparte.
I’ve been seeing that message for awhile, but I thought it was because I dumped Twitter.
I kind of feel that it’s a bit disingenuous to claim that this “happened without warning” given that Twitter has been shutting off API access for quite a while. Regardless, I really hope this will help motivate Automattic to incorporate something like Mastodon/federation support into Publicize directly, or at least give us access to the ActivityPUB plugin that is still frustratingly only available to business users.
I am glad… i don’t use twitter…
So much for free speech…
You have been kind of lazy of promoting Tumblr in all this context 😒
Twitter has gone to doges tbh who
Wow it is like twitter wants to go bankrupt. Oh well whatever
I haven’t been able to use WordPress since you introduced block editing. I like what I write to be in my blog. I like the images where I put them. Whatever block editing is moves everything or disappears it.

No problem. I removed links to Twitter from my blog weeks ago.
Hope it’s up and running in sometime.
excellent
Thank you for the updates but my own concern is Facebook page connection I have facing challenges
Can you reach out to support with more details? Here’s how: https://wordpress.com/support/help-support-options/
Twitter🥱
I think it is working.
It looks like it’s working now
I think it is working
It should be now, yes!
Yes
My Twitter Apps for the WP Twitter Auto Publish plugin have all been suspended and no word from the developers yet. Trying to create new Apps/Projects is proving horribly complicated.
The WP Twitter Auto Publish plugin is built by a different developer, and uses a different sharing method than we use for Jetpack/WordPress.com
The good news is that you can find help for your plugin directly from the developers here: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/twitter-auto-publish/
There are other social media options available so I think it would not be big impact.
You can see all the social media services we auto-publish to here: https://wordpress.com/support/post-automatically-to-social-media/
Maybe whoever owns Twitter pulled the plug on WordPress members being able to share posts on his site. I’ve heard nothing good about that fella Elon Muskrat. I left Twitter awhile ago. It’s not like it use to be.
