background-image lost

  I deleted the background-image in media and uploaded it again. But seems that the orignal name is lost and wordpress adds a number to the name, thus it never gets found by the theme. e.g. skyline-buildings-new-york-skyscrapers-e1547479733972-1.jpg
  Reinstalling the theme did not help either. What to do? Since this the free tarif it is not possible to change the header background-image.
