Disabling Google Fonts for a free-to-use Website

In Germany, the DSGVO (or GDPR) requires websites to ask for user permission before sending user data to third party services and servers.
It seems like all, or at least most wordpress themes use google fonts by default, which are loaded from googles servers when loading the webpage. This happens automatically before any user agreement, which was deemed illegal by german court earlier this year.
Due to this, many owners of webpages, including wordpress pages, are now facing legal actions.
There are some tutorials online to prevent this by serving google fonts from the webpage loacally or completely disabling them. This is done either by use of plugins or changing php or css code of the webpage manually, both of which, to my knowledge, requiring a wordpress subscription.
So my question is: Is there any way to host a FREE website via wordpress, which doesnt use google-fonts in violation of the DSGVO/GDPR? For example is there a way to make my Website use fonts, which are stored on the Webspace of the site itself? Or is there a free to use theme, which doesnt use google fonts?

    Many thanks and best regards
