What is the WordPress streak all about?

Hello there,
For 200 days in a row I have written blog entries, as, after I have finished writing one, I always received a message from WordPress known as “Streak” and it always says (translated from my German mother tongue) “You got a ***-day streak! Keep going!”. But now, after 200 days of writing blog entries and therefore pushing this so-called streak to 200, I wonder what this kind of streak is all about. I do not get something for it, nor does my website receive more traffic (my normal traffic is 0-3 visitors per day). I thought, if I write every day, it maybe helps Google and others to give me a higher website ranking, but it seems this was for no avail. Now, I know that my website can only be read by people that can understand German language and I do know that the topic of my website is a very specific one, so it’s not of interest to everybody, and I got no problem with that. Yet, I feel pushed by that streak thing of WordPress, and always write a blog entry every day because of it, even if there is a day where nothing happened on my website, just so that I do not lose the streak. Yet, it seems that I do not gain anything from it, not even more traffic and nobody reads my blog entries either. So, what is this all about?
