Biografie
My name is Antje Lotte Gertrud Scheumann. The "Antje" I got from a daughter of a cousin's of my mother's, my parents named both their daughters after two of my mother's favorite cousin's daughters, only in reverse order.
"Lotte" was my grandmother on mother's side and my mother's second name, "Gertrud" my grandmother on father's side.
I was born on March 21st 1957 in Eastern Germany, so-called GDR. In November 1958 my parents left for Western Germany (FRG) because of political pressure on both my parents. I then grew up in Hessia and left the family in September 1973 because of getting a training at Deutsche Bundesbahn (railroad) near Hamburg. Later I worked out I left also because of enduring narcississtic abuse and as consequence a disability for relationships.
I was a railroad fan since early childhood and my training and work with the railroad as traffic controller was a lot fun.
With 22 I discovered another area with a lot fun, I came out as a Lesbian. It was a hard struggle from about 17 but I was so happy when I had become sure.
When I was 26 my sister, my only confidant during this horrible childhood (displaying a happy, orderly family of a teacher father and a housewife mother) committed suicide and my life seemed to have ended as well. After 1 week of petrification I gathered myself together and deicided very consciously, "I want to live".
I bought a house to have at least a physical bond to earth and created a women's recreation house with some friends. That was the most chaotic, genuine, creative, self-assuring time of my life. After ten years I got a new perspective living for two years in New Mexico/USA.
It may seem a bit odd, but my greatest goal in life always was to live in an English-speaking country for at least one year to be able to understand the English language while listening to the radio or watching movies.
I succeeded.
I sold my first house and moved to Silver City/New Mexico. The next most wonderful time in my life where I had the opportunity to come to myself in solitude, quietness, slowness, freedom, space.
I had to return to Germany(see my biography), another deep hit after my sister's suicide, when I was 41 years old.
Another begin at zero. Meanwhile I had retired with the railroad and had a lot sidejobs, mostly with driving because I like driving everything a whole lot ! So I learnt many different things and always could do what I like.
In the following years I had 3 more houses and some partnerships before in 2010 I got the diagnosis COPD, being 53. I knew it won't become better any more so I sold my last house and since I am living in a small rented apartment and enjoy culture and travelling (as far as possible with a small pension) what I missed during my "rooting, grounding" phase.
The most important thing I did was a 9-year psychotherapy where I discovered how really damaging and devastating my childhood had been. By chance, if there is a thing like that, I found the best trauma-therapist and through her competent and empathic intervention and guidance I now know why I acted as I did in former times, that I can change if I really want still in old age and that I can now lead a sovereign life resting in myself as far as possible with my character :-)
Because I achieved the goal of my life already every additional day is an encore for me. I am still very curious and enjoy learning and singing in choirs, travelling, cooking, bicycling and being with friends.
Since my 30s I do family research, created a large family tree, had the only family reunion in our family and wrote my biography as well as I published the diaries of my grandmother Lotte Pflugradt and some memories of my mother's, her brother's and two of her cousins'.
