CURL call is causing performance issues

  • Avatar de Desconocido

    Hello WordPress Team,

I am reaching out for assistance with a technical issue we’ve been experiencing in our STG and PRD environments. Over the past weekend, from Friday morning (around 9:00 AM CST) until Sunday at approximately 2:40 PM CST, we observed significant performance degradation on our platform.

After ruling out any changes on our side, we identified that a core WordPress call was taking too long to complete and eventually resulted in an error, which appears to be the root cause of the performance issues. (CURL)

Both our STG and PRD environments were affected simultaneously, and a common component between them is the WAF (Cloudflare). We would like to know if there are any known issues related to this call and what role it plays (to determine if it is necessary to maintain it).

    Additional details:

    • The CURL call seems to be a self-call to the same application but is treated as an external call, possibly due to a WordPress process, causing it to be blocked (this is a theory, what do you think?).
    • The only intermediary between the application and the self-call is Cloudflare, which has the capability to block calls.
    • We have not been able to replicate the issue now, and there have been no changes in Cloudflare’s rules, so we should be experiencing the same block now, but all is running fine since Sunday.

We would appreciate your guidance to determine if there are any adjustments or configurations we can review to prevent this issue in the future.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.
    Best regards, Maxi Casco

    ¡Hola!

    https://es.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
