‘0’ in the URL
-
I’m not sure how, but somehow 2 URL’s were created for the site I was making. I deleted the one I hadn’t been working on, not noticing that the one I was working on had a ‘0’ added to the URL. I deleted the original one already, but am unable to remove the ‘0’ from the current one as it states this name is already taken. Any recommendations on how to proceed?

When you deleted your site it was very very clearly stated the domain name would be locked forever and would never be available to anyone. You even had to confirm it by typing the domain name.
You can’t change the domain name with the 0 to the domain name without 0 because the domain name without 0 is locked forever.
The original website owner can reverse a site deletion during the first 30 days after a site is closed. Once the 30 days have passed, all of the site’s data is purged and cannot be restored, and the site address is deleted and cannot be reused.
If you are within the timeframe of 30 days, follow the instructions as given at https://wordpress.com/support/delete-site/
