Thanks for help so far. I did get the Dashboard and find how to edit the post itself. Now though –

1.When I edit a post , after publishing, how do I save the changes?

2, The title page of the blog, where it has a name, picture and quote, (what we used to call the template) needs correcting. How can I get into this part. All I get is the text of the post.
    Thanks

    Hi there,

1.When I edit a post , after publishing, how do I save the changes?

If you want to update the posts you can do this by clicking on Update. It’s in the same location as Publish when you are first creating the post.

However, if you don’t want to update but just save the revision, you can change the post back to Draft by clicking on Edit next to Status. Click Update and it will save it as a draft until you are ready to publish!

2, The title page of the blog, where it has a name, picture and quote, (what we used to call the template) needs correcting. How can I get into this part. All I get is the text of the post.

You can edit this by going to Appearance > Customize in your Dashboard. Go to the tab labeled Site Title and you can edit it there.

    Cheers!
