Hello,
To add a YouTube video to your post or page, paste the video URL into the visual editor — WordPress.com will embed the video for you.
If you want to upload video files from your computer and host them on your blog, you can do that with VideoPress, which is included with WordPress.com Premium and WordPress.com Business plans.
The Add via URL button is for images. See this guide for more information: https://en.support.wordpress.com/images/adding-images-to-posts-or-pages/#insert-an-image-from-the-web
Let me know how you get on with pasting the YouTube URL into the editor.
Namaste!

I can’t add a video by posting the youtube URL into the post in the editor either. When I do it shows up in the editor but not in the post. I’ve checked to make sure that the URL is on its own separate line and it is, but still nada. I came across suggestions to “make sure it isn’t hyperlinked” but there doesn’t seem to be anyway to do that because as soon as I paste the URL into the editor it converts it to the video image and doesn’t give me any way to check to see if it’s hyperlinked. :(

Ok, let’s see if we can get to the bottom of this.
Please can you send me the following:
- URL of your post containing the YouTube link
- URL of the YouTube video you would like to use
In case you haven’t seen it, there is a support guide about using YouTube videos on WordPress.com: https://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/
Thanks!
