$13 upgrade option missing so I can't change my domain name

I’m trying to upgrade to the $13 plan so I can map my own domain name, but once I go through the process and it asks me to select a plan to upgrade to, the $13 option just isn’t there. I don’t want to pay $99 to add a domain. What gives? Does the $13 option not exist anymore??

The “Plans” are combo-upgrades that include several other upgrades. You need to go to your blog’s dashboard and click on the Store ->My Domains. The button to map a new domain should be there.

Ah, so I’m not the only one who’s noticed it. I see staff already answered it, in their regular “we’re fiddling around with stuff that works perfectly and can’t tell you for sure what will happen” way. Thanks for that thread.

Yeah, that staff-blorbo guy told me to open this new thread, but I haven’t heard anything from him… Very frustrating for a first time wordpress user.

Both galois and I have told you how to find the upgrade you want in two different threads. A staff member is not going to tell you anything different. Go to Store ->My domains in the dashboard. You’ll be able to buy the domain mapping upgrade from there. -

I have done both options a million times…
Hmm.. At 10 seconds per attempt – that is 2,778 hours spend clicking – you have better fingers than I :)
More serious – I just checked three of my sites
Dashboard >> Home >> Store >> there is a box on my sites marked “Add A Domain” and “Mapping” is an option for $ 13.-, clicking through a couple of screens still has me on a regular mapping – sorry did not click all the way to the pay money screen

Thank you all for trying to help. I wish I could show you the screen shot. I’m guessing they’re experimenting with upgrades, and disabling certain options for new users. I have tried all this different ways. The $13 option doesn’t exist for me.

The very last image is my sister trying to do the same thing. Apparently the “custom domain name is now only available when signing up with wordpress.com premium or business”. Thanks for all your help @auxclass @timethief @kokkieh @galois
