  I am trying to renew a domain, but this is what I am told:

  Your blog is mapped to your domain (thetakemag.com) and this domain mapping needs to be renewed before January 1, 1970. Renewal will extend the domain mapping by one year, until January 1, 1970 for only $0.00. (Remember to renew the domain itself with your registrar, too.)

  I’m sorry, but we no longer control the domain thetakemag.com and cannot renew it for you. All of your content is still available through this URL:

  To avoid further confusion, I removed the expired domain upgrade from your account.

  We attempted to inform you of your domain’s expiration (via email and dashboard notices). It was possible to recover the domain for some weeks after its expiration, but because of the time lapsed, the domain was sent back to the registrar, who then sold it to a new owner.
