2 accounts on the same email address, problems!

guys, I set up ‘veggie panther’ on wordpress a while ago. I then used the same address to set up ‘robmarenghi.com’ and now I can’t login to the latter. Can you remove veggie panther but keep robmarenghi.com?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

robmarenghi.com is hosted on Dreamhost so we can’t access that site. Did you connect that site to WordPressdotcom by jetpack?
-
Hi Jennifer, yes. I logged in today using the veggie panther login details (it won’t let me use my rob marenghi login details) and saw there was no dashboard. I read this might be a)I’m not logged in with an admin account or b) a dodgy plugin. Just then wordpress told me my jet pack plugin was running out of date. I’d also read previously my issue may be due to a dodgy plugin, e.g jetpack. putting 2 and 2 together (perhaps wrongly) I deactivated jetpack and now can’t see my rob marenghi site at all! Please help. Though I can see the pages I created if I type in their url’s, I can’t get behind the scenes so to speak

Hello again, I’d recommend heading over to the forum for jetpack on the ORG forums. They certainly will have more experience with this kind of problem than we here on WordPressdotcom.
Jetpack FAQ here: https://jetpack.com/support/
Support forum for jetpack issues: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpackIf you don’t have a username on the ORG forums, you’ll need to register one there.

Thanks Jennifer. Just as unsettling is I can;’t login to worpress half the time. Sometimes the veggie panther combo works, sometimes the rob marenghi combo works and sometimes neither work. Do you have access to my username and password?
Thanks again
Rob

Ok I got in my logging in from a different url. Can I delete the veggie panther blog with out affecting the rob marenghi site? Please say yes :p

Hi there,
As @justjennifer said, robmarenghi.com is not a WordPress.com site, and it’s not connected to robmarenghi.com in any way – I can’t even find a Jetpack connection for that domain.
So that means the following:
1. You have an account on WordPress.com with the username, veggiepanther, and this account owns one site, http://veggiepanther.wordpress.com/
2. robmarenghi.com is a completely different site. For that site, you log in directly at robmarenghi.com/wp-login.php, using the username and password you set up when you created that site. That username and password are not stored on our system, but directly in your site’s database which is stored on Dreamhost’s servers.
You can delete your site with us, but that will make absolutely no difference to your self-hosted site.
What you can consider is to install a plugin on robmarenghi.com called Jetpack:
If you install that plugin and connect it to your veggiepanther account here on WordPress.com, you only need to log into your account here with us, and then you can access your robmarenghi.com site directly via our system, or you can have a one-click login button to log in to the dashboard itself.

Thanks for you reply. I went on my veggiepanther account and jet pack is on there as an active plugin, yet I can't access the Robmarenghi.com site. I was a little confused before. Robmarenghi.com was set up with dreamhost but then wordpress was installed to work on it. Now though, when I try and login via wordpress, I get this message (tried a few different passwords as I still don't know which to use as sometimes it lets me in and sometimes not!):
unusedThe server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, webmaster and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

so my last question is ( thanks for your patience) – on my rob marenghi account under plugins it says jetpack is active. But then above ‘plugin’ in the menu bar it says ‘jetpack’. I click on that and it says this – ‘Please connect to or create a WordPress.com account to start using Jetpack. This will enable powerful security, traffic, and customization services.’
Shall I connect again with jetpack?
Best regards
Rob

I went on my veggiepanther account and jet pack is on there as an active plugin,
All WordPress.com sites automatically have Jetpack, yes, so in the case of a WordPress.com site you don’t need to connect it. It’s already connected. But Jetpack is site-specific, not account-specific, so having it on one site won’t also connect it to other sites you have.
Robmarenghi.com was set up with dreamhost but then wordpress was installed to work on it.
The WordPress you installed on that site is the WordPress software, that is hosted on the WordPress.org website. That’s completely separate from WordPress.com, and you don’t need a WordPress.com account to use that software.
So logging in there using your WordPress.com account won’t work. There is no connection whatsoever between your WordPress.com account, and your WordPress site at Dreamhost.
But then above ‘plugin’ in the menu bar it says ‘jetpack’. I click on that and it says this – ‘Please connect to or create a WordPress.com account to start using Jetpack. This will enable powerful security, traffic, and customization services.’
Shall I connect again with jetpack?
Jetpack creates a connection between your WordPress site at Dreamhost, and your WordPress.com account. So yes, first you need to be logged in to the dashboard on your Dreamhost site. Then you need to go to Jetpack and click Connect.
That will add Robmarenghi.com to your My Sites list here on WordPress.com, and you’ll be able to manage it directly from here by clicking on My Sites and selecting it, or you’ll be able to use the Log in using WordPress.com button on the dashboard for that site.
You don’t need to create a new WordPress.com account – if you click the connect button while you’re logged into your veggiepanther account here, it will automatically try to connect to this account, so you’ll have both your sites in the same account.
I hope that clarifies things, but please ask if anything is still unclear :)

thanks for your clear explanations. you’re dealing with a website absolute beginner as I’m sure you can tell. I just connected jetpack on the rob marenghi site to wordpress.
Many thanks

I can see the site in your account now, so you should be good to go.
Please let me know if I can help with anything else.
