2 Blogs into one

Hi All,
I am familiar with wordpress.com – however, don’t know how to set this up – please advise if it is at all possible.
How do you merge or have 2 wordpress.com Blogs = into one ( 1 ) ?
Is there a way to password-protect one Blog, while still keeping the other Blog open ?
I have a blog set up for family & friends, and would like to create another blog for my business. Can two blogs work together at one blog – address ? (i.e. abc.wordpress.com) – how do you get two blogs into one?
Can one of the blogs be password-protected or private ?
Any help greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

You need two separate blogs unless you are going to password protect all the personal family Posts.
I have seen no way to make half of a blog “Private” where people need to sign-in. You can use the same password on all the Posts if you wanted but security goes down and people can still see the title of the Post.
You can have two different blogs under the same account if you want. The differences are only visible for your visitors. You can have totally different editors / Admin / Writers on each different blog, in fact you can have completely different Admin and everything on the two different blogs.

What I was thinking of doing, is making a page private for friends & family – password protected but then leave the rest of the blog open for my business…
Can this be done?
So essentially one blog – but make a section password-protected.
How do I do that ?

You can make any Page or Post Password protected and everything else in the clear. I have done that when I had things I only wanted to share with a few people.
You just choose “Password Protect” as one of the options before you publish something (the upper right hand corner of the screen around where the “Publish” and “Update” buttons are.
You can’t do a “section” as such to the best of my knowledge where you have an area set off unless you had a completely separate blog by itself. But if you only have a few Pages or Posts that are Password protected should not be too bad for everyone.
You might want to review the Page vs. Post article before you get too far down the road.

I’m with auxclass on this. I think that mucking about with combining two blogs and using private pages and posts to attempt to create an srtificial partioning is bound to result in uneccesary nonsense and even accidental publication of content you wanted to remain “private”. My strongest advice is DO NOT do this. Maintain two separate blogs. -
Hello, and thank yuo sooo much auxclass… I took your advise and have set up a blog – which will essentially be for my business, but have one page only – private, as password-protected.
So far, it seems to work well, i’ve tested it – and like this way of doing things..
