2 blogs on 1 wordpress install

    Hi!
    On our WordPress install, we essentially need 2 blogs on one site.

    1 is our marketing blog, and 1 is used for our portfolio of written client work.

    We can’t use subdomains, and we need each section to operate separately, in the sense that they each have their own unique sidebar, and you can search categories separately in each section.

    We’re running into trouble, especially with having separate sidebars. See link.

    Any ideas how we can go about this?

    Hi there,

    We can’t help directly because we don’t host your site on our WordPress.com managed hosting. As a result we don’t have the ability to take a closer look at your site.

    Instead your host (Cloudways) uses the open-source variant of the WordPress platform which functions differently than what we offer here on WordPress.com, so for help with this you will need to turn to the open-source WordPress forums here: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/

    However, there are some similarities between the WordPress we offer here qnd the version your host uses, so even though we can’t help directly, perhaps we can point you in the right direction…

    Typically to create two separate blogs that appear to exist on a single site like that would require the use of the WordPress Multisite software, which is not possible on WordPress.com. However, without any development or extra effort you can use the portfolio option in the Jetpack plugin. This is similar to what we offer on WordPress.com, and essentially lets you set up the portfolio so it’s totally separate from the blog. You do not have to use the portfolio for visual work only. Plenty of sites use it for text content or to organize longform “case studies” including multiple images and text.
