2 issues with Pique theme

Firstly, it states in the guidance for Pique, with regards to the panels “You can also adjust the background color and the opacity of your featured image on top of it, allowing you fine-grained control over your page’s appearance.” Is it possible to do this for the Front Page too? This is the first bit any visitors see and so it would be very frustrating if you do not have the same control over this.

Secondly when I go to my testimonial page the testimonial pages only use the second and third columns
    My site is aerialartwork.co.uk

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • The opacity setting applies only to the featured images of the panel content pages. Front page is not a panel hence the opacity setting is not applicable to front page’s featured image.

You can change the opacity of the image in a graphics program like Photoshop or Gimp and then use the image as a featured image for your front page. You can also use CSS, but that is part of Premium upgrade. So I don’t suggest CSS just for this.

I see the problem with your testimonials on http://aerialartwork.co.uk/testimonials/ page. But I can’t figure how is that happening. How did you add your testimonials to that page?

You have set the page template to Testimonials, but what is the content of that page? My testimonials display fine when I add the [testimonials] shortcode. So I would like to know if you have added the testimonials differently.

Thank you very much for responding.

It does say “fine grained control over your page’s appearance” and I think the front page is part of my page. I would like to change the colour cast and opacity of this front page but that is set through the palette choice in Colors & Backgrounds in Customize, and you are limited to six choices.

With regards to Testimonials I have switched to the Pique theme from Motif, so I am not sure what I have done differently. I made a page and called it Testimonials and then chose that page as a panel. I have now read that an archive of testimonials exists at /testimonial, but do not know how to select this as a panel as it does not appear on the list of options.

Additionally, the slider effect as one panel replaces another works on my computer, even when the browser window is narrowed to mimic a smartphone, but the slider effect does not appear on my tablet or smartphone, where everything is static. This was one of the reasons I chose Pique so it is disappointing. Do you know if it is meant to work on mobile devices?

  • Is it possible to do this for the Front Page too?

No, that’s not an option in this theme. If you’d like to modify the opacity or colour overlay you could either use custom CSS or modify the image in a graphics program, as chaitanyamsv mentioned above.

This seems like an issue on the demo as well:

I’ll ask our developers to have a look and we’ll keep you posted here.

Pique is fully responsive and adapts automatically to devices of different sizes. The panel backgrounds are a little different on smaller devices. I will double-check with our developer to make sure that is intentional.

  • It looks like fixed backgrounds are disabled in most mobile browsers as they don’t work reliably there, sometimes causing jumpiness and other unintended effects. More info here:

  • The sidebar has been restored on the testimonial page, where it had been missing, so the layout is now balanced:
