2 posts side by side at the same time

A friend of mine and I are starting a blog together, and we would like to post each of our posts at the same time, and would like them to appear side by side. It doesn’t seem like there are any themes that support this, but what do you suggest is the best way to make our site look like this? http://www.3191milesapart.com/

That’s a really cool idea! While you would be able to post right next to each other, would you be open to the idea of posting your posts on separate pages? What you can do is create Category Pages – one category page for you and one for a friend. Then, you can create a Custom Menu where you could add these separate category pages to your menu.
If you are looking for posts side by side, I believe it would be best to move to self-hosted, WordPress.org. To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities. At WordPress.com, we provide hosting, support, and tons of features for blogs. Users also have the option to purchase a variety of upgrades to customize the look and feel of their blog. WordPress.org is a software for self-hosted sites. With WordPress.org, users are provided access to all backend files and can upload custom themes and plugins.

I’m not sure if you could find a theme that would support this, but this would provide you more flexibility than WordPress.com. I found this after a quick search (a person on .org asking about the same thing/site):
