2-Step Authentication

    Hello,

When I originally created savejeffhavard.wordpress.com (as well as the 38 other sites I’ve created that are listed in my global dashboard), I had a different cell number, which I can provide upon request, than my current cell number. My previous phone number is now owned by an elderly woman who was kind enough to send me several times the verification codes to login to my dashboard, which requires 2-step authentication.

I now need to disable the 2-step verification so that I can get it set up with my new cell number. I do not feel comfortable asking the elderly woman who owns my old phone number to send me yet another code.

I wanted to ask if there is another way I can prove that I’m the owner of these 39 sites – I can confirm my old cell number, provide the 10 backup codes or do anything else as required.

    Thank you!

That’s the moment you must use one of the backup codes you got when you set up 2FA. Just fill in an unused backup code. Once logged in, you can change the phone number, https://wordpress.com/support/security/two-step-authentication/#moving-to-a-new-device
