2 step authentication

  I’ve been with wp for over a decade…I’m not a paid subscriber but I need to I set up 2 step auth. I really don’t want to hang on to those in my files and have to retrieve them every time I log in, plus I really don’t think I will have access to those codes for another decade, but I’dneed them to log in and get new ones. Can we just do sms or email like everyone else? If I deactivate the 2 step it says I’ll lose my passwords. Please help.

  We just recommend app over SMS because certain apps and providers block SMS messages, so sometimes it may be difficult to receive the message at times. However, SMS can be set up via the instructions above. I recognize it’s a hassle to keep up with them, but I definitely recommend downloading/screenshooting the backup codes just in case.
