2012 Theme Adding blog page back as homepage
-
It’s been some time since I added a page (called Welcome) as my home page and relegated my blog to a minor page. I’d like to use my blog as the home page again as it was intended.
On looking at the Appearance > Menus > Page “View All” box there is Home: Welcome.
How to I change this for the blog to have “home” next to it?
Would doing this change in the menu alter my redirected .com url?
I could probably figure it out in the long run but I’m sure I’d be a mess before it was done.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m also having problems with the 2012 theme. I want to set the Home page to a specific static page and divert posts to a specific page, but the drop down menus in the Appearance > Front section allowing me to choose the Front and Blog Posts pages are missing. I’ve tried Mac OS, Windows and a variety of browsers. Sadly the drop-downs are missing in all of them. There appears to be a problem with this particular theme. Any ideas anyone?

Hi lasgalenarts,
If in your dashboard you go to Settings then Reading there should be an option called Front page displays. If you set it to be Your Latest Posts, I think that should do what you are looking for.
@uwebiggestdraw, If you do not have any pages created and published then that option will not show up. Do you have any pages created yet?
Hope that helps both of you but if not let me know.

Thanks sandymcfadden. The pages were privately ‘published’. When I made them public that did the trick.

Hi Sandy,
I’ve done what you’ve suggested and it worked.
Another question for you.
On looking at the Appearance > Menus > Page “View All” box there is “Home” on the top of the list and a “Blog” further down. I gather this new “Home” is my blog page and the now empty “Blog” page found on my navigation bar on my site just an old redirect.
How to do I hide (or get rid of) that now defunct blog page?
And how do I clean up this Menu Structure which does not have a “Home” selection bar.
I feel like there are more steps than just changing the Front Page display.

“And how do I clean up this Menu Structure which does not have a “Home” selection bar.”
I’ve found this answer already.

Excellent uwebiggestdraw glad it is working now.
lasgalenarts so are you all set now or do you want to remove the Blog from the menu? If you want to remove that in your Dashboard go to Pages, then All Pages select the Blog page that is there and you can either delete it if you no longer need it, or you can change it’s visibility to private to keep it hidden but not deleted.
Let me know if that does it.

I would have never thought to delete it from the pages. That was scary but it works. lol
Thanks so much for your help Sandy I’m now all set.
