2012 theme how to remove leave a reply from front page

  Hi! I am working on my front page, trying to remove the comment link (eg. 3 replies or Leave a reply) which appears between the main title of my article and the image.
  I have tried to disable comments and pingbacks on certain pages and posts but so far, it hasn’t changed anything. I don’t want to remove the comments and I want people to be able to comment on the posts when they click on the full article.
